Please contribute with your B&M in the same format. At the end, we can compile one list and add other information (website, store hours, et cetera).

edited. to add. This list attempt has been spawned from a similar thread. If it is a stupid idea, just say so and I will go away.

08/25/08: I have made cursory additions to the list in an attempt gather some of the posted information. I realize that it may be even less detailed (no link, address, ask for) but all of that information will be added in due time, given that this project actually gets rolling. I really want to have a high quality recommendation list, with personal insight and the like, that everybody can look to. Many of the suggestions for sites that have been brought to my attention just do not cut it. This is a work in progress and it entirely depends on the community's involvement. If my B(S)OTLs have no interest in such an endeavor, then it will show soon enough. I do not want to know about every cigar store in the world, just where fellow members actually shop and will personally recommend. Of course, there are details that need to be worked out but I think we can collectively arrive at creative solutions.
08/26/08: Added a few more but the suggestions come slowly. I hesitate to put more effort into this project until there are more raw additions.
09/01/08: Thanks for the additions, guys. I will get to some organizational work early this week and we may have a chance to decided how exactly this resource ought to be arranged.
09/07/2008: I do not have reliable internet these days, so this thread is stalling. I hope to have a chance to speak with some local BOTL once I get over my sinus headaches and really decide how this ought to be setup.

Would this be a suitable Wiki topic? At the very least, if this gets rolling, it might be worth pinning. What say you?

Wilkey

I think it should be pinned. It's especially useful for those who travel a bit. I don't think there are really any other great resources out there. Google might show you where the B&Ms are, but is it worth dropping by. All the MN B&Ms I listed are worthwhile, IMO.

WIlkey,

I think this would be MUCH better suited to a Wiki topic. A few clicks, rather than searching a thread for the info you need.

Wilkey,

You may be completely correct that this thread will make a suitable Wiki topic but, I must admit, my original intention was to have it pinned. If all goes to plan, we will have an informational database about all of our approved B&Ms. There are a number of details that may be included with each entry onto the list but I believe the first step is to establish a rolling list.

I will consolidate information as the list grows. All suggestions and criticism pertaining to this project will be taken into account.

edited to add. At the very least, this thread will get the ball rolling and lead the way to the most suitable format.

Thanks for answering my question..oh wait.

Also - see HERE!

'search is your friend'...;)

I apologize for the oversight. In my opinion, that list is not comprehensive. If all this effort accomplishes is providing additional entries for the resource you provided, then it will be worthwhile. But, I must admit, maybe the best route would be to update the link that you have provided. A concentrated effort might be made on that end.

-Mark

edited to add. In the past, I've noticed more than a few threads with the "Where should I for a smoke?" question and I would like to see an effort to more fully answer it.

Right, a concentrated effort to compile a list will be the best way to go. If we rely on the old approach and hope for sporadic additions, then we will not have a database worth referencing.

-Mark

Might I ask, how will the list get updated should the B&M close or move or change phone numbers?

I nominate you to check it daily to make sure each entry is up to date. You seem to have had a alot of free time today..since you had alot of time to scrutinize RDJ post. (AND by the way the link you provided has not been updated in at least a year. I checked under IL, almost 60% of those places are no longer smoker friendly thanks to the IL ban on smoking)
