NEWBIE WAR OF 08': VICTORY!

hydrocloric acid is likely sold at art stores. Not sure the concentration, but it is used as a metal etching reagent. Thermal shock is a cool idea, but would it also crack the glass?
 
The other thing to keep in mind is the cigar cannot be damaged either. A pressure washer could very easily crack the glass tube. Acid is the only real way to dissolve the cement, but you are still left with getting around all the rebar and metal not to mention if AVB added any kind of epoxy hardeners or what not to the cement. This is not an easy task but none the less could very well be a fun one.
 
I think i would try cutting a lot of the brick away, then maybe try dissolving it. I think rapidly heating and cooling would definitely crack the glass as well.
 
It might do to read about the previous time this weapon was used. No sense reinventing the wheel now.

Tried to find the "previous time" but had no luck with the terms i searched.

Another answer to getting the tube out would be to use Hydrobromic Acid. It's stronger than HCl acid and won't hurt glass.

Do yourself a favor Souldog and just admit defeat. Then bury that thing Ray sent you in your yard and dig it up in about thirty years, along with whatever else you feel like throwing in the time-capsule of sorts.
