Anyone else limit themselves?

Since I started smoking, I haven't been able to get myself over that there are health risks involved in a hobby that I have come to love so much, as a result, I've always limited myself to a certain amount of sticks per week. The number has fluctuated depending on what events are occuring or how much free time i'll have, but I've never smoked say 10 in a week or as many as my heart desired. Unfortunately, this has had negative effects on the different sizes of smokes I tned to choose to smoke. (IE: I almost never grab for PCs, coronas, lanceros, ect.) Has anyone else run into this self-inflicted "problem"? If so, how many do you limit yourself to, and to those that dont - how the hell do you simply tell yourself "f it!"? I have a feeling there will be a lot of "you never know how long you have" posts, but then how do you get yourself passed the health risks? Sorry, just kind of thinking out loud here. Looking for some FOGs to help clear up this noob's mind.

I smoke when I can. Don't worry to much about the bad effects of cigars personally. In moderation nothing is really gonna kill ya, within reason. Sometimes I go a week with out a cigar, sometimes 7 a day for a week straight. Just depends on what is going on. As far a worrying about a certain limit per week, which holds you back, that could be good if you see yourself getting out of control with it.

I don't have a specific number per week, I only limit myself to 'giving myself enough time to truly savor the smoke'

With a new house this seems to be something of a rare occurrence, but you get my drift. I smoke when I've got time, which seems to sortof regulate itself.

That's, of course, just me.

Absolutey! I limit myslef....only one cigar at a time.

In all seriousness. Life limits me. I just don'thave the time to smoke that I used to. Now, when the time exists, I am smoking.

thankfully I don't have the desire to smoke more then 3 a week which I'm lucky If i can get that many in.

Same story here. During the week, I usually don't have time for more than one a day, sometimes not that many (missed last night, for example). Weekends are usually at least one a day, sometimes three, sometimes none. Just depends on what's going on.

Whatever it is, I sure don't worry about it. A great smoke is an hour of "down time" to relax and reflect. Doesn't happen often enough......

My time limits me however whenever I mention to a doctor that I smoke cigars they generally say not to worry about it. Life is to short to worry about everything if you are a 4 pack a day cigarette smoker ok but a few cigars a week is insignificant.

Like some others here, my free time is its own limit. I think the most I've smoked in one day is three or four on a weekend day. During the week, I never have time for more than one cigar per day, and usually not even that. I don't believe I've smoked a cigar at all for about two weeks now.

I agree with other members post, you never know when you will go!! I have asked the Doctor and the Dentist about my love for cigars and they both have told me to do it in moderation.. Just like others I don't have time to smoke a cigar everyday I wish I did, but my little girl takes up all my time.. Some times I will go weeks without a cigar, then other weeks I will smoke 3 or 4. There is no better way for me to relax than with a cigar and some port. The other factor that I take into consideration is "Houstons Air", living in a big city you are breathing worst toxins then there are in cigars.. just injoy the little things in life that make you happy.. Do you drink?? Do you do anything extreme?? If so why not smoke!!

my limit is by my girlfriend. I probably smoke 6 a week, although she believes it to be 3 or 4. ;) Petite's are perfect for a drive in.

I am also limited by time. I have had some days where I'll be able to fit in 3-4 depending on size but most of the time I can get in 1 or 2 a week. Unfortunately right now it's been 2.5 weeks since I've been able to smoke a cigar.

A lot of my smoking use to take place in my car but I just bought a new truck and I won't be smoking in it. The past 2 weeks have been pretty stressful (college midterms  ) and should get better after tomorrow, tomorrow night I plan on burning something good.

I don't seem to enjoy cigars as much if I'm smoking everyday. It affects my palate, and after a while it hardly matters what I'm smoking. It all just tastes like tobacco. Whereas if I'm smoking every couple days or more I can taste and enjoy the cigars a lot more. I won't touch a good ISOM if I've smoked for a few days straight. It's a waste. My .02.

It's more of a time issue really. I agree with what's been said about giving yourself enough time to really enjoy a cigar. If I don't have enough uninterrupted time to really enjoy a cigar I won't start one(most of the time anyway). I just have to wait until the right time which usually ends up being about once or twice a week if I'm lucky.

Like most here, I'm limited by time. As an outdoor smoker, I'm also limited by the weather. I usually have a cigar or two a week during the spring/summer/fall and I am planning a couple of bowls of pipe tobacco each week for the winter months. We're about into pipe season now with our daytime highs barely hitting 50. I figure I've got about a month or so left in cigar season. Anything less than a thick maduro performs poorly for me below about 35*. Once it hits the 20s, I give up on cigars altogether.

Once I get my shop finished next year, this will change a little.

I don't waste my time with something REALLY good if I can't REALLY enjoy it. This goes for all aspects of my life, not just cigars. If you're going to do something, you might as well do it right...

I'm about the same as most I limit myself due to the time I have, If I could I'd have one going all my waking hours. You're going to die sometime anyway so enjoy the time you have.

As far as medical I regulary trade with my doctor and dentist, and I KNOW that my dentist smokes more than I do!

Some weeks I will smoke more than others. If I ever feel like I need one, that is when I cut myself off. Most of the time, I end up about one or two a week.

At a minimum, there are usually two smokes per day - The first, at sunrise, after PT, a shower and over cafe and breakfast. The second - sunset. Depending on my day, there are smokes interspersed throughout it. With only slightly cooler weather now hitting us here in So. Florida, sometimes these smokes consist of a pipe as well. But, as I said, at least 2 per day.

without other influence, I'd chain smoke. At most, I've smoked 7 in a day, but I do limit now to 2. I've found that those really cheap bundles I used to "enjoy" now taste like crap. It has been 2 years since I went a day without a smoke.
