Just took delivery of a box of Hemingway Short Story.
Opened up the box and Wow, What a site to behold.
The presentation of these Cigars Blew me away. I have never seen a box of cigars with a Humi pouch inside for freshness.
I have a couple of questions:

How long will the Humi pouch last?
If I keep the pouch in my Humidor will it refresh itself or last longer?

And on that note I am now going to retire to my porch and smoke one...Yee Har
Cheers

If you have a humidor to store that box in remove the humipouch as soon as possible as they can sometimes cause mold growth due to the increased humidity.

Depending on what type of pouch it is, it may only last a week or up to 6 months. However, as burn-slow stated, I'd just take it out if you have a humi for them anyway. It's not going to do much inside the humi. Yes, your humidor will keep it recharged a bit longer, as those pouches generally release moisture for anything below 65% and absorb it for anything above 65%, but what's the point really if you've already got storage.

Can't you recharge these by keeping it in a tupperware bowl with a shot glass of distilled water? So long as it doesn't get completely dried out?

If so, it wouldn't be bad to keep around to place in any packages you ship out. :)

No.

oh...pfft... ignore me. :)

I've read of people doing this and having success.

I can see it helping the longevity a bit, but not everlasting. Those humidipaks have some sort of gel in them that releases the moisture, it's not just a packet of distilled water, so I wouldn't think you could just recharge them.

I'm going to respectfully disagree here.

I think the Fuente packs are the same as the Bovida packs - they absorb as well as give off moisture in order to regulate the humidity. I keep my spares, both Fuente and Bovida, in a zip bag with a small sponge that's soft NOT WET with distilled water. There's no question they swell up a bit and the sponge dries out over time.

They keep in this condition pretty well for many months. They're what I use when I ship cigars out.....

I picked up two box's of the short story, one for me and one for my B&M who was out (don't tell). Both box's of sticks were not smokable. They will need to rest for a good two weeks. I took 3 sticks and let them sit out for 2 days, the humi packs really keep the Rh high.
As for saving and trying to recharge, I keep an empty box in the humi to store them in. Then before I travel I just test them with my dig. meter in an empty cigar box.
It worked for me...

Yes, well, this is why I asked , As it could come in handy to ship some smokes overseas :whistling:

Sorry about being abrupt...the dogs were barking and I had to pee.

In all respect to your question. You can essentially use them over and over again but don't store them in a 'desktop' humidor. I have a cabinet humidor and I keep a couple in a ziplock baggie for shipping purposes from time to time, but these were designed for cigar manufacturers so they can keep their cigars fresh during shipment and distribution.

As Brickhouse has noted, it does contain a gel which dries out over time. They cannot be recharged.
