I'm not sure I would have gotten in this if I would have known that. They make it sound on the website like there is zero tolerance for this, as it should be. We need to start a CP only cigarpool!! Any volunteers?

I think you'll find that most of the players are pretty good about sending smokes, and most send more than the required one per number.

But having said that, we have a vocal member of CP who hasn't registered a mailing since 11/29/06, and unless he's resigned from the pool, and they forgot to remove his name, I think some cigars need to be sent promptly!!

Get out of here Jay! Not a CP member... surely you jest. Can't be.

Must be extenuating circumstances.

I can't understand why someone would sign up for this and not send, at least, the minimum required number of smokes. If it's a matter of money, they need to fulfill their obligations, and then quit, but to just quit sending smokes is BS!

The folks at Cigar Pool just need to follow their own guidelines/rules.

Brew, can you think of any "extenuating circumstance" that lasts for a month and a half?? I'll admit to forgetting to send my smokes until the last minute a couple of times, but I chalk that up to laziness on my part for not sending them right after the winner is announced.

I'm In if CP does a Cigar Pool :)
Willing to help as well

Take Care,
Lisa

i would bail the main pool and join a board pool only here too. I tried to get one of these started on another board when i left the cpool before but it never happened.

Jay, ??? nothing leaps to mind. However, as you know, certain folks here on CP have "AMAZING POWERS OF SELF JUSTIFICATION" And they no doubt feel their "reasoning" is sound. And no matter what you or others say they will defend their decision to stiff the winners at CigarPool. At least that has been my experience with some of the more vocal CP folks.

I'm clueless as to who you guys are talking about. I do not condone allowing any member of CP to be above our rules; I think that has been made clear. If we have a poor trader among us, lets get this resolved now. I know that there are several (a lot) of CP members who participate at CigarPool.com. Since we have a thread dedicated to the Pool here at CP, then perhaps you guys need to step up and get this resolved. If emails are failing, then lets bring this out and get it resolved.

Again, I don't like hearing that CP allows certain members to be above the rules. This is NOT how this community is run, no matter how long you have been a member.

Rod,
I don't think anyone is implying that any members of Cigar Pass are above the rules, I know I wasn't. If that's the impression, it's not at all what was meant, and I apologize for any confusion! The rules we're referring to are CIGAR POOL's rules. Admittedly they're a bit vague, but I take them to mean, every couple of weeks someone wins, based on the Arizona Daily Number, and I need to send the winner my smokes before the next drawing. If you haven't registered your mailing before the next drawing, you're not eligible to win. There is no rule that actually addresses what happens to a member who fails to send his smokes out in a timely manner.

The point was made clearly in the earlier thread:

Case in point

I fully agree "Actions do speak louder than words"

The person I'm referring too knows who he his, and he needs to meet his obligations is all I'm saying!

Again, I apologize for any confusion.

Rod, I wholeheartedly agree with your second sentence. I did not intend to cast aspersions upon your good name or the good name of CP. I was referring only to the hypocrisy of some members here on CP when one looks at their track record(s) on CigarPool. IMO, a commitment is a commitment, as a BOTL you either send the smokes as agreed or get out of the pool. Especially, if in the past that member has been the band-leader in criticizing others who had failed to send their smokes. But that is just me, maybe its just an ethical hang-up on my part???

If the person in question is failing to communicate, then if I were in your shoes I would call that person out here in this thread. If there truly is a discrepancy in the rules on CigarPool's behalf, they need to better communicate their rules.

Hope it all works out.

Smitty,

Forgot about this last drawing with the cruise and all.

Will register tonight and get your sticks out in the morning.

Yep, someone here hasn't registered on Cigarpool for the last 4 drawings. ???

it is him! dude, you stiff me after stiffing 4 others on that pool after you won it? I will call you out. Thats not right!!!! You better have an explanation

i think i just figured it out. And if it is? i am sorry i sent him the sticks i did when he won it

Here's the list of winners: http://www.cigarpool.com/cgi-bin/topschedulelucky.pl

So, does that mean the CP member in question is in fact on that list?

Judging by that list, there are several CP members who have won recently. If this person still hasn't paid and is not communicating, who's to say he won't pull the same shenanigan's here?

Would really like to see this resolved.

Take it up w/ Cigarpool admin Michael Cook.

I never joined cigarpool b/c of this reason. Plus the sticks sent were never worth it.

I was in the pool for a while. I actually won within a month of joining. The sticks I received were about 60% good, 30% crap and 10% Premium or better. There were a few people who did not send at all. Over the following months it get really bad with many people not sending or people sending complete garbage.

The really stupid thing, which was the last straw for me, was how the rules were enforced. First you were supposed to list what you sent. However, those who sent crap generally just put down "a couple from the dor" or some other equally stupid phrase. This kept them from having to publicly announce the crap they sent. Second, if you did not "register" sending your cigars you were not elligible for the next drawing. It did not mean you actually had to send your cigars just register them. Third, you coupld miss months of obligations and then suddenly jump back in, send the most recent winner his sticks, and all was good and you were in good standing to be elligible for the next drawing. I never saw anyone kicked out.

Finally I had enough and announced that I was sending my final obligations and quitting the pool. As luck would have it my number was drawn that week. :sign: Of course I declined and had them go to the alternate.

I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN A CP ONLY POOL! If it were handled here in our community I would be interested in doing something once or twice per month.

My. .02

- Jason
