Today really sucks!

Hey Mikey, I think you should drive it like that. Sort of looks like the wife won't care if you smoke in the family car now! You can throw your dog rocket nubs in the back seat. ??? Way to go crash, glad everyone was okay! ;)

I don't think the insurance will repair it. It is a 1995 and I am pretty sure the damage is greater than book value.

Have faith, little brother. If they total, tell them you'll accept another 95 in comparable condition in leiu of a check. C'mon, we MUST have some legal suggestions here. Whats the chance the settlement $$ could put your smoking lounge back on the road?

Damn! Glad everybody is OK and you can still get a vehicle. We're still waiting on getting the wife's car fixed after hitting the dear and that's been like 3 weeks ago.

I was just thinking about that one. I saw an 18 wheeler today that looked like it was outfitted by the props guys that did Mad Max. I t had a cow catcher - 6 inch chromed steel tubing cage over the entire front that I doubt a bull elk could scratch. Sorry about the 'jack.

Well I will not tell the insurance company what I paid for the van when I bought it. One thing I pride myself in is that I am 36 years old and have NEVER made a payment on a car. I may drive junkers and ones that I find for pennies on the dollar, but they are all mine.

We will take a decent settlement check in place of another van. My brother in law has been trying to sell a minivan of his for a couple weeks. I will probably buy it off him and call it good.

Same with me Bilder, I've never financed a car in my life and the most I ever paid for a car was $3500.00, my 1979 BMW 733i that I bought in 1993.

Of course I have been known to do really stupid things like "restore" a freakin' '86 Jaguar where I probably could have bought one even nicer than mine for less than half of what I have into it, BUT I only paid $900.00 for it originally!! :D

My latest daily driver, my 1987 Buick Park Avenue I bought at a junkyard when I stopped there to pick up a wheel cover for a friend's car. I bought it in 1998 for $1700.00. :D

So last summer, I'm driving down the road following a large box truck and I saw a picture of my Park Ave on the back of the truck. :0 I thought that was pretty cool so I got closer to the truck to see what the writing was under the photo.

It said:

"Donate your car for charity"

Fuggers.......

Most I have paid is $1800. Best deal I ever got was from a couple who were leaving the state and gave me a car that they had not been able to start for some time. I towed it home and spent a couple hours going over it. It should have started and was wanting to turn over.

I finally got a wild idea and put a gallon of gas in it. Started right up and I drove that car for several years. Just put a label on the gas gage warning that 1/4 tank reading was really dead empty. :)

My wife is starting to complain about some pain tonight. She will probably end up going to the doctor if she is sore in the morning. She was in the passenger seat and took the brunt of the force when we hit.

Yep, that's typical. I've been in a couple of accidents (that weren't my fault) and I was sore for a couple of days but it went away. I actually was the sorest after running in a demolition derby a long time ago! I was fine after the "race" but the next couple of days, the soreness kicked in, mostly my back.

It doesn't hurt to get checked out though, just in case.

I'm sorry to hear about the EXTENSIVE whiplash injury ;)

:D

Seriously, I'm glad it wasn't too serious. Hope it all works out for the better!

Sorry to hear about the accident, bilder. Hopefully, your wife's pain is minimal and short-lived. Take care and keep your head up!

Wife is feeling better today than she was last night. Think a good nights was all she needed. She will still go see a doctor just to make sure.

The other persons insurance has paid for a rental, a really sweet minivan. Wife and kids are gonna get spoiled riding around in this thing.

Should be a couple days before I hear from the adjustor as to if my van is repairable or if they will total it out. Given its age and the fact that there is engine and body damage, I am thinking they will write it off as a loss.
