Which service do you prefer and why? I know Sirius offers more channels without additional cost, while XM offers newer techonology. I've used XM and like it, however Sirius offers more channels. Would like to hear what you think.

Thanks,
Rod

I had the sirius in the office and it was great. It was all about placement of the antenna and it was great. I know friends who have the XM and they liked it better! So I guess I am no help! $0.02 :D

First off I'm a moron, cause I voted XM but I meant Sirius.

I'm a Sirius customer back home and love their service although I can't say I've used XM so I don't have much feedback on their stuff.

Sirius has great systems IMO and a bit wider music selection. But you can't go wrong either way, they both air ESPN radio

I have XM in the car, at home and in the office. I prefer Opie and Anthony over Howard Stern, plus I listen to the NASCAR races on XM a lot. The music channels are pretty much the saem, if you consider all the different formats. News channels are all pretty much the same too. With XM you get college basketball too. Plus, if you're a baseball fan, there's MLB. My brother has Sirius and is happy with it though too. XM has the technology and leads the race, so to say. It's really all in who you want to give your money to. I prefer to give mine to XM.

It's not how many channels, it's the content that matters. If you like NHL, go for XM because although they are both broadcasting it now, it will soon be an XM exclusive. I love XM (Opie & Anthony kick ass along with Ron and Fezz), some people like Sirrius (more left wing talk shows, Howard, and some great comedy like Jim Bruer <sp>). Both have web streams, so you can listen on your computer (or cell phone). Personally, O&A, and the 'I Love Lucy" channels (classic new wave/punk/alternative) and the excellent shows on the 'decades' channels are what made me want XM.

We have both Sirius and XM. I prefer Sirius. I think Sirius has better music programming and they have NFL!

But either beats regular old radio.

Matt,

I like the MLB and Nascar. Did you know that Nascar is moving to Sirius Jan 2007? XM will no longer carry Nascar.

I can't stand Howard Stern.

i have been a Sirius subscriber for almost 4 yrs now (long before stern even thought of sat. radio, i was i the first million subscribers as well). i have heard both XM and Sirius, and IMHO, Sirius has the better programming, you can get a trial account and listen online for 3 days on sirius.com, trust me, you will not be disappointed.

I would LOVE to make a trade - Nascar for Stern! I'm just the opposite, Rod - I would find it fun to be able to listen to Stern occasionally but can't stand Nascar! :p

I've had XM for about 4 years now and will never go back to FM radio. Even though I'm generally happy with it, I'm not all that impressed with their stations. I've never tried Sirius before, so I can't help you with a comparison. I've got too much invested in my deck and car system to make a switch, so until I get a new car (which isn't any time soon), I'm married to XM. I wish some of XM's stations would learn from Yahoo Launchcast. Launchcast has a DAMN nice selection of stations and music. I listen to Launchcast at home all the time and I prefer it over XM - too bad they don't have a satellite!

My vote goes to XM. I was the first in my family to get it but soon afterward we had a system in every vehicle we drive (except the Harley but we are working on it ). I think that you would be happy with either so find out what extras they each have and take the plunge.

Sirius is the better choice and the one that will be around longer. XM announced today that it is cutting projections for subscribers again.

well i got a buddy who's a manager at bestbuy so he's used both and hes always says sirus is better. My deck in my car can do both I’ll probably get sirius. I was told with both of them if you activate the unit. Then call and cancel your subscription if you leave it off for 2 months (the length they send out the cancellation code) and turn it back on you get free radio but that was a year or so ago. Never tried it myself.

FYI XM owners: i have heard people were calling XM customer service to cancel, and were offered the service for 50% monthly subscription fees. worth a shot for a lower rate. YMMV of course.

I like XM cause that's what I have. I don't know if I like sirius but I definitely don't that phucktard Stern and that's reason enough for me to stay with XM.

WAIT!!! Um... you "listen" to Nascar races? How's that work exactly... like horses only different? Nothing makes me shake my head in wonder more than some jaggoff on the TV calling this idiocy a "sport" and the drivers "athletes". Oh My God.
