I came across this article in my local newspaper today and it's been over an hour and I still can't stop laughing  :

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (AP) -- Prosecutors say a man shoved a cell phone down his girlfriend's throat because he was angry and jealous. But defense attorneys insisted as a trial got underway that the woman swallowed the phone intentionally to keep the defendant from seeing whom she had been calling.

Marlon Brando Gill, 24, is charged with first-degree assault in the December incident involving 25-year-old Melinda Abell.

Abell has given inconsistent accounts of what happened before she was taken to a hospital, where an emergency room doctor removed the phone.

She testified Tuesday on the first day of Gill's trial that she couldn't remember how the phone got in her throat, saying she had too much to drink that night.

She said in court that she could not recall writing a statement to police after the incident, in which she said: "I think he thought I'd been talking to other guys. ... He took my phone to see who I had been calling."

The statement added: "If I didn't want him to see my phone, I would have just thrown it out the window and busted it."

Much of her testimony centered on her relationship with Gill, of Kansas City, which started in 2004.

"It was good at first, then it got rocky," Abell said.

She testified that he had verbally and physically abused her, but under cross-examination she acknowledged she never told police about the abuse and continued to live with Gill until the cell phone incident.

Okay, now VOTE in the poll! :D

I'm with Marlon on this one, the bitch was steppin' out on him and tried to hide her phone calls from him. :sign:

My apologies, I spelled "believe" wrong in Option #2 of this poll.

Im with Marlon Brando on this one. Its the name...Its all in the name. I am swayed by celebrity namesake status, what can I say. Plus I had a gf who did a trick like that once

Hah hard to say. I’ve seen women throw there phones and break them rather then let anyone see who they called or what they text messaged.

I can't believe the State's Attorneys are actually prosecuting this. So far, this poll has confirmed my thoughts. :p

You did post this poll on a cigar forum. Put it up on the Feminine Hygiene or Moontrance forums and you would see a different result.

Is it so hard to belive that he actually was a jerk, she a dumbass lush and that he in a violent fit decided to pound her down and shove a phone down her throat? In his defense at least he didn't pick a more painful orifice!

Now that you mention it, it's IMPOSSIBLE to believe since there were no prior incidents of violence on his part until she swallowed her cell phone and claimed he did it so HE would get stuck with the hospital bill. Let's face it, if she admitted she swallowed it, SHE would have to pay the hospital bill. ;)

She's a lying scumbag and the prosecutors are fucking idiots.

He probably threatened to shove it down her mouth, but I doubt if he stuck his hand in far enough to actually do it (which i can't even see being possible unless she was, err, well practiced). I'd guess he probably tried to stick it in her mouth and she got the bright idea of taking it to far to "teach him a lesson" about making stupid threats, and is now too embarrassed to tell the truth.

They were obviously made for each other!

BTW, I wonder what kind of phone it was? Nokia makes a 'pocket rocket' sized one that would be possible to, umm... ingest, but if it was some oversized Blackberry deal.... :0

Edited to add: Even if he was somehow able to get his hand/arm in her mouth - what woman on this planet would not have bitten down as hard as she could once his hand was in her mouth?

CC - how far did arguing with a woman ever get you.....? :whistling:

Just nod and smile! :D

She should have shoved it somewhere else, it sounds like he wasn't getting any from her anyway....

Actually yes it is very hard to believe. I've been drunk a few times and know plenty of guys that have been really really drunk more than a few times and it is safe to say that no matter how damn drunk you got you're going to remember getting a phone shoved down your damn throat. Definitely so if when it's shoved down your thoat it involves an ass whipping. This lady is not only a liar but she is incredibly stupid.

I vote to release Marlon.
More painful? If she could swallow a phone, it would have probably fallen out of any other orifice.

I think in these highly emotional charged and legally complex situations one must reference the rules of nature:

I voted accordingly.
