Which way is right?

Grateful1 says I should always light a cigar with a cedar strip, that was lit off a lighter that is NOT a zippo, after gently toasting the foot with another cedar strip.
I believe that blasting it with the most possible heat from the pointy bit at the end of the flame of my torch immediately kinda sears it, and seals in the flavor, like a seared Ahi tuna.

Which one of us is right? Oh, and do you like clipping the end of your cigars? I don't.


Gary....is this sufficient?

All the while holding your tongue at a 38 degree angle, perpendicular to your left leg which should be 45 degrees behind you.

Close - the tip of the flame needs to NOT touch the element - as the heat source just above the visible flame is the hottest point!

Which end?
 
Well the cedar stick vs torch is kinda like Caracole grill vs gas. The cedar stick will probably add a very, very, very need I emphasize very small hint of cedar. The torch will simply heat it up with no flavoring as long as the flame never actually touches the tobacco. Personally I find my soft flame butane lighter to be one of the cleanest heat sources but again that’s just me. Do whats tasts best to you.

That's what I said, I guess you lost the bet and had to post the old how best to light the cigar. Oh by the way no relights after 30 minutes.
 
Personally, I just torch 'em up. You can roast and toast and fiddle around but I believe that getting them going evenly is the key. I just go for it, anymore.

No lighter fluid powerered flames, just a butane or a match. If I use a match (rare) I always wait a few seconds for the match head to burn off fully before putting the fire to the gar.

hah were not dumb, its just more fun giving a serious reply and makes you sit and attempt to explain. :D
 
Butane or a match. If have been drinking, I have been known to try a car lighter.. Can't remember if it worked. But hey no one is perfect.

^been there done that, oddly enough it dose work, it just takes like 4 times to get each corner light I think, i cant remember that well...
 
Oh yea one more thing. If you think your triple flame torch is out of gas. Don't hold it up to your ear to listen for gas (i.e. a noisy bar) and accidentally ignite it, to find out you were wrong. Yea I am that guy...
