Man the prices on Cbid Quickies are through the roof tonight....not even gonna try placing a bid on anything I don't think.

Boxes of some gars that I got for less than 30 are now over 50....the closer to payday it seems is not a good time to bid.

My rule - If it's something I really want, I bid 2/3 of retail. Win some, lose some....but a winner is in fact a winner..!!

Good Luck - B.B.S.

I never bid on quickies because you can always get a better price on a regular auction. For one thing, quickies rarely have more than one or two quantity of the item compared to 6 to 10 in a scheduled auction. This makes a huge difference in price. ;)

I just created an account over there…looks like there are some good deals to be had ;)

The deals I've seen lately end up being higher bid than what you could get at Famous outright! :(
One thing I always liked about cigarauctioneer over cbid is that the former warns you when you are about to bid more than Famous' regular price. Cigarbid has no such courtesy.

However, cbid does have better deals IFF you are patient and wait for the good deal and don't get fixated on winning a certain lot. ;)

Just a tad bit of advice... tread VERY slowly! Many guys (including myself) have made the mistake of jumping in head first and then by the end of the week getting a bill for about 4-5x what they were wanting to spend. Anymore, I'd rather save my money for a good box of sticks than spend my cigar money at cigarbid. It's not a bad place to buy from occasionally (because there are good deals to be had), but it can add up very quickly leaving you looking like...:0

I know its hard for me to budget because if I buy a bunch at once and piss all my smoke money away for the month, I might come across a sweet deal on Opus or Anejo or something, then I'll be SOL. There must be a science behind it! ???

Be careful Apathy. Set limits on the transaction BEFORE you bid.
Thanks for the advice, believe me if I hit my limit I stop. I have noticed that some bids get real high real quick. I guess it becomes a competition at that point, who can win the bid.

Yup, there is only one winner in a bidding war and it isn't the bidders. About the only thing I bid on anymore is something they have a LOT of. Hence no war.

The times I have used c-bid (got a lot of nice yard-gar and moocher deals there), the cigars came in fine shape. Once was too wet, once too dry, but neither terrible, and the others were OK. I was sure to bunch all of the packages into ONE shipping bundle (once a week) so as to avoid getting slammed by shipping charges (which can EASILY kill any savings).

I've always had good experiences with Cbid as well, except for the time or two where I ruined it by not playing smart.

My advice is to carefully read the description, and know what section you're in. It's easy smoetimes to think you're bidding on a box, when in fact it's a single or a 5-Pack.

The deals are there though...that's a fact. It's just that for every deal, there's 10 that aren't.

The first order I ever recieved from CBid came in damaged. I called the customer service line and they shipped me out a replacement the next morning along with a pre-paid shipping label to return the defect.

Thanks.
It sounds like they are pretty reputable.
I just won a 5-Pack of 5 Vegas Churchill’s (7.0" x 52 ring). I’ve never tried them before, but got them for about $7.00 ($10.95 shipped), which seems like a good deal, so I'll give them a try.
I probably should have asked the question before I made a bid on something, but I’m glad to hear that they have good customer service.
