Meat is murder! Tasty, tasty murder.
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it in my search this afternoon and thought if it hadn't been discussed in awhile some of the newer members would like to share.
I started smoking (sort of)cigars when I was 16 years old. It all started when I was looking for something besides Red Man chew to take fishing with me. I was at the bait shop and thought that Swishers looked alright for a nice change.
I went on for a couple of years smoking these until one of my good friend's fathers went fishing with us one day. He saw what I was smoking and told me to toss "that turd" and he gifted me an AF (I have no earthly idea what it was, but I remember it was a corona sized cigar). I thought it was good, but it didn't knock my socks off. He gave me 4 more when we got home and told me to enjoy. I did.
Come graduation from HS in 1993, I went to the local shop to get something "good" for me and 2 of my friends to celebrate. I ended up with Royal Jamaican Churchills on his recommendation of something mild but flavorful. I really enjoyed these at the time and went back for more.
From that point on I dabbled here and there and enjoyed buying singles for many years. 2 years ago I decided to stock up and keep a humidor to have some cigars on hand for company and special times. I found this place about 8 months ago and now I have expanded my experiences beyond anything I could ever have imagined. The graciousness and generosity of the BOTLs around here has really blown me away.
Looking back at that fishing trip I'd have to say that it was my first experience with the generosity and camaraderie that exists in the cigar smoking community. I'm sending that man a bomb of appreciation next week with a note thanking him for that gesture. He may not remember it, but I'll never forget it.
Tomorrow is a special day for me and I'll be burning my first Habano. I have the folks here to thank for this opportunity and for expanding my knowledge to the degree it has been expanded. I look forward to learning more and contributing more and more.
That's my story! Anyone else care to share?
