Can You Smoke Inside?

Not here. The wife claims to be able to smell the smoke from people driving down the road in front of her. I tried in the garage with the door cracked but it still seeped up into the living room.

We just added a really nice deck and I can see our 47 inch LCD through the back window off the kitchen so I turn down the sound and set it to CC and light up. Its not the same as sitting in my recliner but its better then watching the grass grow in the back yard like I did before we had the deck.

DAMN TAJ... Nice bump!!!

I could smoke inside if I chose to... It's my house, but since the girlfiend lives here and I would NEVER EVER let her smoke in the house... I do it in the garage!!!
I thought about making the spare bedroom a office/smoking room, but I'm still on the fence though... I'll probably not do it. :(

I rent a 5 bedroom house w/ 4 girls (yes i know, i'm the man) at college and I can smoke in my room. I usually just use a box fan in the window so i'm not breathing in my second hand smoke, and when i'm finished I usually light an inscent. Works wonders

If your house has a fireplace, smoke in front of a fire. The hot air from the fire rises, creating a suction effect, drawing in smoke. I never have a problem with any smells when doing this (and my wife, like most wives, HATES cigar smoke- yet she can't smell anything when I smoke in front of a fire).

I used to have a sweet smoking room (my theater room), but that was in our old home. Now in the new house, no such room and inside smoking doesn't happen much anymore. However, I'm trying to make my office an "every once in a while" smoking room for those times that I would prefer to be inside rather than out on my patio.

Not in the house by choice. My wife's choice. Usually out back on the patio after the kids are asleep. Me, the dog, a scotch and a cigar. Fortunately in Southern Cal it is warm enough to smoke outside most of the year. Rain does put a damper on things however. Then its the garage.

INCENSE
(unlike other boards, spelling counts here)

I smoke in my house all the time in the finished basement. I use a hepafilter and you can barely notice the smell elsewhere in the house and if someone does, tough crap.

Yes, one with a keen sense of smell can notice but it certainly isn't overpowering and definitely not something worth complaining about.

I have a three year old so i choose not to. I do have a heated garage for very bad weather.

wow... talk about old threads revitalized!

And no - no indoors smoking for me. Wife bans me to the great outdoors. She has a nose that will tell her that the milk will go bad next week... not today, not tomorrow but next freaking week. So sensitive it'll scare you. I thought I could get away with it ONCE (and only once mind you) when we remodeled the downstairs bathroom. Down to stud walls, no sheetrock, no flooring, no nothing. First thing I put in was the ceiling fan, second was the door. She went to work, I lit up and enjoyed a fine cigar. 10 HOURS later, after the fan ran all day, ozium spray administered throughout the house, vacuumed every inch, cooked dinner, brushed the dogs, even farted a couple of times... and 2 seconds after walking in the door I got my ass CHEWED for having a cigar indoors. She was not happy with me until the sheetrock was up and painted.

So I go outdoors or to the ONE place in town that has a smoking lounge now that out fluggin ban is in effect.

No I won't. My wife says I can but I just KNOW that would lead to problems so I do not push the issue. The heat, humidity and bugs are so bad in the summer down here that I tend to stop smoking between June and November.

I SMOKE WHEN AND WERE I WANT, WE HAVE AN AIR
CLEANER THAT WORKS SO SO. EVERY NOW AND THEN
SHE WILL TELL ME A CIGAR STINKS AND I TRY NOT TO
BUY ANY MORE OF THEN. OTHER WISE I GOT A COOL WIFE.

CC, please note the time of my post......3.24am....I wasn't going to go looking up how to spell the word, and I must have forgotten the spell check feature....I'm sorry!

I smoked pipes and pipe tobacco for about 30 years; 4 hours a night, every night and that was inside our home. Our Son grew up right in the middle of all that 'second-hand' smoke and is a healthy, 6', 2", 31 year old. Neither my wife nor I have any health ailments...none and we take no meds.

Then came the day when she wanted the interior of our home to be painted. She pointed out the brownish tint that was once a White finish. I looked up and only noted it had a splendid, tan patina but.....it got painted and I got relegated to the garage. At the same time, I stopped pipe smoking and took up hand-rolled leafs.

Now I smoke cigars in our garage after breakfast and when I walk though the neighborhood after supper every night. Cut down on my TV watching which was another good thing about that.

I can smoke in my office. I have a window fan that blows air out. It doesn't make the room cold either. I burn a house warmer candle by Yankee Candles ( I think thats the name). The main thing that makes a room stink is the ashes. Leave those suckers and you are bound to have a smell the next day. My wife encourages me to smoke in my office. In other words if I am smoking I am not pestering her.

Tough one, Jim!

My wife is also an eagle-nose. However, her much loved late uncle Oscar was a cigar smoker. She lets me smoke anytime, anywhere - even in the car when we're on the road (I crack the window an inch or more).

I can smoke the pipe indoors from time to time. Some have a great room note, and does not linger like cigar smoke.

I smoke inside usually and if someone doesn't like it then they can go sit on the porch. I'll smoke outside if the weather is nice and it suites me at the time. I don't smoke every day, never leave anything in the ashtray, it's my house, my wife smokes cigarettes, and, oh yeah, it's my house. It won't be long before the only place you can smoke will be inside your own house.

Jim
