Question on storing cigars in cooler temperatures

That I understand. I have a Tumi computer briefcase that 10 years ago was about $400. Being a certified, card-carrying cheap bastard, I would never buy it, but found a lightly (almost no) used version on eBay for $99 and snapped it up. There’s a lot of impulse buying out there that people end up undoing. You got a helluva deal.

I just don’t care that much. I have an old HC humidor that I’m sure I got on sale for not too much That works great. The one in the photo above I got in the Philippines filled with cigars, it has sentimental value. I have a wineador. But I’ll stick to tupperdore for any future growth.

It’s not that I don’t like nice humidors, I just don’t have that particular bug. Thankfully. Or cars. Thankfully. Now guns? That’s my impulse buying downfall, but that’s another thread.

I think this is the key. I would much rather buy more expensive cigars and store them where I "know" they will smoke well than to spend money on a humidor and "hope" it does it's job.

LOL there is zero chance of a cigar becoming a dog rocket due to poor conditions if kept in an Elie Bleu humidor, unless the caretaker did not maintain it. The beauty is secondary to the quality construction, you may have missed that crucial takeaway. Also, I paid $.10 on the dollar for mine, so it had zero effect on cigar spending. I LOVE my coolerdors! I have 6 coolerdors (Newair 1500 & 840's, and two Liebherr XS-200's) plus three end table humidors, one Aristocrat and two Vigilant's. I only use the Elie Bleu humidors for shorter term storage when I transfer the sticks from the coolerdors at the office to the desktops at home to rest, acclimate to be ready to be smoked soon. This system has worked extremely well for my needs for many, many years.

Not quite Jeff, you most certainly did miss what I am saying but it's all good. For you to insult my cigars and call them dog rockets just because they came out of a nice humidor was unnecessary roughness, nonsensical and has absolutely no basis in reality. I am not bragging just because I enjoy hunting down high quality products for really cheap prices. I am not one of those folks that can afford to pay retail for high quality items, so I would have nothing to brag about anyway but I sure do pride myself on still finding quality items for pennies on the dollar. That is called being a smart consumer in my opinion and most folks would be proud of that. There is no reason for you to feel threatened by it, and certainly no reason to insult someone else's cigar collection just because you do things differently. We all love our cigars and want to take good care of them, so why you felt the need to resort to insulting my cigars is beyond me. There is no right or wrong here, to each his own. Can't we all just get along, play nice and support each other and share in this lovely hobby??

Thank you kindly for the explanation, and my apologies if my response was unwarranted. I have never had someone attack or insult my cigars for no apparent reason, especially a fellow brother of the leaf. I couldn't care less about what anyone spends on their cigar storage or cigars. I am only impressed by systems that work well no matter what the design, style or methodology is and if the owner is happy with the results.

I am not much of a sarcastic ball buster, so I imagine I will probably just tend to stay on the sidelines here.

Please show me where I insulted your cigars? I was referring in general to the idea of spending a lot of money on a humidor rather than spending the money on cigars.

I’ve also heard about dry boxing for the first time (I never hung around cigar sites before, just smoked ‘em) and I have a special purpose small humidor on the way for that, and I’m expecting great things from the practice. I’ve learned a lot about hygrometers, tupperdore storage, and a great many other things.

I have run many and many a tuppy, I love them!
That being said, this is my new go-to "desktop"

Those are pretty cool! But SWMBO still would not let me keep it in the living room. My tupps are in the basement on top of the wineador. This is the small one I got for the dry boxing, and the management let's me keep it in the living room. Got it on a 30% off sale, so almost as good a deal as @ByronB got on his Elie Bleus!

They are replacing all my travel cases as well, I have a Tactical Range Bag that I use as my portable cigar lounge, and they slide in the pistol case section perfectly. My only real issue is they do not have foam trays. When Iget home I wil post a picture of my travel set-up, I need to straighten it up anyway

Right there when you said "dog rocket that came from a beautiful desktop humidor". I don't get the correlation, especially when my better sticks are all stored and aged in the coolerdors and are only transferred to the desktop humidors for short periods of time before smoking.

You ASSumed I only keep cigars in desktop humidors.

My post was intended to demonstrate that I did not spend a lot of money on the humidors (leaving more money for cigars!), and I am happy that I still managed to get really good quality ones on the cheap.
