Going to Vegas next week for my bachelor party

Hey fellas,

As the title says, I'm going to Vegas next week for my bachelor party. I haven't been to Vegas since turning legal, but am going with some buddies that are Vegas regulars. We are staying at Ballys, Wednesday - Sunday. I have a few questions for you all...

1) are ANY poker rooms smoke-friendly?
2) what cigar stores/shops do I need to visit? (We will have a car for 2 days)
3) How much can one really smoke in Vegas? Is it pretty much free reign? If so, how many cigars should I bring or better yet...how many do you bring with you on trips?
4) What kind of budget should I bring for gambling. I know this is a "depends" type of question, but I'm still interested to hear what you guys all budget to see if I'm anywhere in the ball park since I have NO CLUE what to budget. I know also, budget only what I'm good to lose...
5) Any MUST sees or restaurants? I'm taking my boys out to a restaurant called: Batistas...one of my groomsmen lives in vegas, so he recommended it as a good place to eat and a budget friendlier place.

This will be my first vacation in 2 years, so I'm pretty stoked.

Should be fun! Some easy answers, some not-

No poker rooms allow smoking

you should hit casa fuente, as an out of towner it is the best/most unique. It is in the caesars forums at the north end

You can smoke at casa/cigar shops/rhumbar, casino floors and outside. You cant smoke in resutaurants, hotel portions of the casinos, shows

You should bring what you are willing to lose? This question is way too subjective and depends on you, your financial situation, what you want to play, where you want to play etc?

Food/sites is also subjective. Vegas has some of the premier dining in the world. Shoot me a pm and let me know what you want to eat and what your budget is. For context, i have been to margaritaville with some guys from this board and had a great dinner for 20 bucks, then gone to joel robuchon with the same guys and spent a little more for a *really* great dinner...

I go to Casa Fuente every time out there.

I've been to cheap places and the most expensive places in Vegas. I"ve been disappointed at both. I found I like RM Seaford at Mandalay Bay and tend to eat there every meal now when I'm there. However, I stay at the Four Seasons and the restaurant is right next to the Mandalay Bay race and sports book (my home).

Someplace to eat a little more budget friendly since you have a car. Sort of asian fusion.

Visit the Golden Steer if you can afford it http://goldensteersteakhouselasvegas.com/. It's by far the best steak house I've ever been to. You also can smoke in some poker rooms, I did at NYNY.
 
Is golf part of the program?

If yes, drive up to Mesquite and golf Wolf Creek. Worth the drive and time, to be sure!

I will not forget the snickers flapjack or the sausage gravy pot pie with scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes for a very long time.

Are there cigar shops all over Vegas? or mainly just Casa Fuente?

I hear that Margaritaville is a great place to "sight see" ;)

Have you done any poker tournaments there? any that you recommend?

Sounds like I could end up smoking several sticks a day...fantastic :)
 
There are many cigar shops all over Vegas, some better than others, Casa Fuente is a great novelty place to go, but stupidly expensive. Shoot me a PM, I'll give you all the shops, locations, ects.

Michael Frye owns Casa Fuente and has several other cigar shops including Frye Brothers Cigar Box... If you want Opus, Cigar Box has Opus from $12 - $35 (A is $35) vs Casa Fuente $25 - $75 (A $75)

All the cigars at Cigar Box are normal Price.

Aaron, since it's your bachelor party, THIS place will not disappoint! :thumbs:

Although Casa is known to have higher prices, the opportunity to smoke cigars in a shopping mall all while watching people walk by is worth just sitting down and ordering a drink. Plus, you get to take a group pic in front of that famous "Forbidden X" graphic column in the store! ( or it could be the Opus X, my mind is hazy today).

Seems you like cards more than dice or slots, I'd say bring $2K or just take out a marker. Once you get married, it'll be half her debt. j/k
 
If you want to play poker, go downtown to Fremont street and play at Binions. (Downtown is for gamblers, the strip is for tourist)

If you want to find cigar shops off the strip...and you have an iPhone (Android too) get the app- cigarshoplocator.com

The parent company for Casa Fuente is Cigar Box located at 1900 Western Ave., down the street from Cheetahs. There is also an indian reservation shop that is relatively cheap not far from downtown. Las Vegas Paiute Cigar Store at 1225 Main Street. Tiny shop, but great prices.

And I agree with Phil...Vegas ain't cheap, bring what you are willing to lose.

One tip: If you're looking to hit the clubs and since you say it's a bachelor party, make sure you hook up with a bachelorette party...it's easier to gain entry into clubs (front of the line) with girls than just guys. Clubs love bachelorette parties.
