We are at the stage of wiring the car up. (55 Chevy).

We are NOT going to put the radio in the dash or glove box....but want it mounted in the trunk.

I know about 'Secret Audio'...but the reviews are not stellar.
We could also go with another unit(Alpine) and have an RF remote...it just doesn't have an LCD.
Now the marine RF from Alpine does...but it's wired for power...don't want that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

So you're wanting a remote with a screen that's wireless?

What kinds of source are you going to be using?

Outside of marine applications, I don't know of any that have a remote with a screen.

May not require a screen...just clear displays.

That's what I'm saying, I don't know of any receivers that have a remote with a display on them other than marine (most marine do have displays).

Thought of mounting the face of the receiver remotely? I've never done it but I know it can be done.

We don't want anything showing.

I think we may add a wirelss remote (Alpine Marine)in the ashtray.
It only requires a 12v feed and ground.

Still looking into it.

You can get an IR repeater. That way you can use the wireless remote that the deck came with and use any brand deck you want. If you want video out, use the monitor output from a dvd deck. If you like, give me a call at 520-624-2000. I own Audio 2000, we've recieved 7 installer of the year awards. We'll get you through it.

The issue us 'visibiltiy' first: We don't want any.The second issue is the 'remote': Wireless remotes don't have a LCD - only 12v wired ones do.I'll look into the ir one's.At this time, we have nothing but a 4ch amp I own and some small items.

Oh yea...what units have you used the IR repeater?

...and would those remotes have a display or just simple controls?

Has to be a way to do it with your fruit phone by now...like Airplay for your car.

I've seen a setup close to that with a jailbroke 4G: use one fruit to control the other hooked to the stereo.

And my vote will always be Alpine headunits...

***I haven't been awarded anything car audio related***

If your deck has a wireless remote, any IR repeater should work. You can take apart the plastic chassis and just have the eye somewhere that is in sight of your remote. Another option is a smart phone with Pandora. You can use your audio output to go to an RCA adapter. You can also do the same with the video output as well. Then all you do is plug your phone in. Just give me a call and I'll put you on with my best tech. He can wire anything. I can assure you, we got your back.

Yea HM...we've been going thru a lot of versions of a set up.

The IR eye would be nice, but I still don't think any remotes have an LCD display.

So...we are leaning toward a pull down or pull out tray or some such thing....it will have an Ipod cable and likely the RF remote with LCD. Prolly the alpine marine...but I'm going to look at clarion as we may put an amp in.
(that and the alpne remote is WHITE/Grey...not black.)
