Back from a trip

I just got back from Cuba. Weather was amazing. Got a sunburn. I smoked different cigars at the hotel. Montecristo #3, Romeo & Julieta #3, Bolivar - not sure which. They were all good except I thought the Bolivar was extremely light and not too tasty. In front of the hotel shop there was a man making cigars. Was very interesting to see him work. It was definitely a skill to be able to put them together. I smoked a few of his and they were quite amazing. They were light to medium taste and burnt through very slowly without knotting up. I ended up purchasing about 15 cigars from him for really cheap. I guess it was luck even trying them out.

Where did you stay?
 
Looks very nice! Did you stay at the resort, or find your way to Old Havana? I couldn't imagine heading to Cuba and not visiting La Habana Vieja.

No I stayed at the resort. I've been to Havana, quite a city. One should see it when there. But I was on a one week vacation and just wanted to rest.... Every night dancers performed on stage at the hotel. Its amazing how talented these Cuban dancers can be. During the day went to the beach and ended the day by the big pool. It was an amazing time...
 
Sounds like a nice trip. I would love to visit there one day, but I'm not about to move to the arctic North to do it.

Arctic North?? Not quite sure what you mean by that. But I think your referring to living in Canada. I heard that eventually one day the US may be free to go there...
 
Yeah, it was an attempt at humor. A poor one, I'll grant you, but an attempt. I know there are ways to get there as a US citizen, both legally and otherwise, but I would just as soon wait until there are no strings attached. At any rate, care to share any pictures from your trip? :thumbs:

Yes I guess it would be nicer to go somewhere that you can feel comfortable being there and not have to hide where you are from.

I have pictures, nothing too exciting though. Pictures of the beach, the hotel, dancers and the man making the cigars. I can post a few of these I guess. If you look at my avatar, it is an actual car I photographed in Havana. 1950 automobiles can be seen all over Cuba.
 
Ah, the new Packard we've been hearing so much about! And pictures of Cuban dancers can't be all that bad, if they are anything like the ones in Godfather II. ;)

Thanks for sharing the pictures, looks beautiful. How does it compare price-wise to vacationing in, say, Jamaica or the Dominican Republic or Mexico?

Generally Cheaper. It is possible to get a week vacation off season for $600 - all inclusive including flight. But because of the long winter, people want to get away and trips are maintaining at around the $1000 mark. Cuba isknown for its fantastic beaches.
 
That would be a great vacation. Unfortunately if it becomes legal here, everyone will go, cruise lines included, and the price of your lovely $600.00 off season vacation shoots off the charts.

I thought the same thing, but then again other destinations are in the $1000 - $1500 in full season where Americans are allowed, so perhaps not ....
