Today’s Smoke 2018

Holland Lops, are the breed. One buys a rabbit, after badgering parents for months, then starts to neglect them just like all the other pets. Then the parents are the ones to take care of/feed, until they find another home :) Either that, or stew.......but I've never made rabbit stew.

My first memory of a rabbit was when I was about 3 yrs old, holding it by the hind legs so my dad could skin it. We raised rabbits when I was a kid, and that along with a big vegetable garden was a significant source of our family's food. My two brothers and I each had one pet doe and one buck, but we weren't allowed to name the offspring because they were all destined for the dinner table. I've tried making rabbit stew with and dumplings like my mom used to do, but somehow it just doesn't turn out the way hers did.

Smoked my first Lost City yesterday, what a disappointment (what she said), had i guess 4 years on it, average is being nice. Today, probably a Partagas Habaneros from ‘14, maybe some Dunhill Navy Roll in pipe, if the rain passes and i get in the trout stream.

Working with rabbit is pretty tough in my experience. Even sous vide rabbit can get dry and mushy if left for too long. I guess that’s why I mostly see stew recipes.

How did you like it? The couple I had on hand aged really well for my tastes.
That dark wrapper does not burn well. Quesada uses it on a few cigars, it seems to me, and I have trouble keeping them lit. Same experience with the Heisenbergs and DAGAs. The best Quesada for my money is still the Seleccion España.
