Worst cigar ever!

So the cigar shop near me has this thing called a mystery pack. It's designed for newb's like me to try out cigars they would never know about or may not have tried. So I've done this before about 6 months ago and recieved 5 good cigars from it (5 per mystery pack).

Having had 6 months under my belt, i've found a few cigars i like. Cuesta Rey's, Cao Italia's, Torrano naturals, and Cohiba Cuban's being among my favorites.

But i decided to be adventurous and try something new...why not a mystery pack or two, to get some new things to try.

One pack was really good, it had a Padron, a Cuban Parejo (which im told is a good cigar), a Monte Cristo (cuban), and a Romeo y Julieta 1875 anniversario. (It also had a spirit of cuba cigar which i looked up and its like $2 retail).

The second pack had 2 Don Mateo's, 2 Baccarat, and an unlabeled cigar.

Let me tell you, i tried the Baccarat, it has to be one of the worst cigars, i've ever had...hell black and milds are better!

Just wanted to relate a horrible experience...and see if i can pawn the 2nd one off on anyone lol.

How did you manage that in Nevada? Don't think they would be selling Cuban cigars in a cigar shop there, much less in a mystery bag.

Was it actually a habano? Montecristo does make N/Cs.

And the plot thickens......

worst cigar ever... when i first started, the local shop recommended a Quorum. it was $1 each for a toro sized cigar. first few puffs, not bad... then it started tasting like shoe leather and asphalt. yum. almost swore off cigars altogether.

sidenote- stupid salesperson, if you ask me. way to entice someone into a new hobby.

Antonio y Cleopatra Churchill Maduro.

Cheap, machine made 3pack for $2.50

Too funny....the "maduro" verson isn't any better, IMHO.... :D

Got one in my nO0b sampler. Truth is, I kinda wanted to like 'em; anxious to give it a try. Couldn't believe how strong it smelled in the cello and taking it out just about made me gag. Hmm....the smell was strangely familiar. Fired it up and couldn't believe how BAD it was; just about knocked me over. Then - it dawned on me - the sucker smelled just like "Old Spice"...!! Had an uncle years ago that used to wear O.S. and this damn thing smelled exactly the same! Not a "trace" amount, it's like they soaked the stick on O.S....!! Three drags and it hit the ash tray for good. Just godawful; had to smoke another stick just to get the taste out of my mouth.

I've had other smokes that "did nothing" but this one was actively offensive.... :p

FWIW - B.B.S.

un-named/unknown 'It's a Boy'

Yeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... :p

had to smoke it with the new father tho- so I suffered thru it. Went home and brushed my teeth, gargled and tried not to throw up...

I have had some really bad stuff that was mexican. I bought them of ebay, i checked out there web-site and it looked like a good smoke. The designer had a good story. Total garabage, they retailed for $80 bundle on their website, and I paid $29 for the bundle. They were call Hoyo Da monteral or something like that. Red and white label.

Acid, absolutely. And it was a gift, and the guy was sitting right there, and I have to work with him, so I couldn't just chuck it. Had to wait for him to go to the bathroom and then I sliced about 2 inches off of it with my cutter, relit it, and pretended I had burned it down that far and let it go out.

I have said it before and I'll say it again.........

HELIX, BLOWS GOAT BAGS!!!!!!!!!!

And that all I have to say about that :whistling:

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I second the sentiment so profoundly expressed by STYX....

OK, the worst cigar that I have ever smoked. A friend of mine made a trip to the Dominican Republic. Someone on the streets sold him a box of cigars. They were presented to him as Dominicans, but the funny thing was this. They were robusto sized cigars with R&J Churchill (Habana) bands on them. LMAO

He gave me several of them. Smelled so bad I couldn't put them in my humidor. Lit one up...tasted like, well like,...OK, I don't know what it tasted like. Horrible. Like someone rolled up their lawn clippings after a Great Dane had taken a piss on it. Couldn't smoke more than an inch of it.

LOL. I'll have to try that tonight

De Nobili cigars are the worst I ever had. They are like petrified dog $hit. You have to chew them for an hour just to get them to draw. A lot of the old heads down at the social club smoked them so I gave one a try. $3.75 for a pack of 5. :p

Thompson Phoenix. Got some with a small humi I ordered from them. Based on that experience I will NEVER buy Thompson brand smokes again.

Funny thing . . . a member (well used to be :D ) of CS liked them when I sent him one unbanded to try as a test. I traded all of them to him.

Just to further this discussion... does a cigar suck MORE if it had high expectations to begin with and failed to live up to those expectations?

Case and point: lets say you hear all these great things about XXX cigar. everyone says its the best thing since sliced bread (btw, I don't get this cliche... sliced bread sucks too). now you get one of these "fantastic" cigars and its nowhere near as good as people say. however, if you rate the cigar objectively, it may still be better than a truly bad and/or cheap cigar. in this particular case, how does its "suckiness" rank?
