Hi guys. Been a while since I've been to the Pass, we had a major house fire in 8/09 and are still battling the insurance company in litigation, but wanted to share what I've been busy with this year. Started out as a favor to a BOTL and has grown into quite a little side business. http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x365/wineadors/edgestar.jpg

I've a photobucket album you can feel free to peruse through as well. Wineador Album

Since our house burned up, this has been quite a therapeutic endeavor for me and keeps my mind off the depressing parts of life!

sorry to hear about the fire, insurance companies do suck you pay you pay and you pay and when its time for them to pay they want to be like wait you never dotted the i i am sorry but we cannot pay you.

your work is pretty cool the kitchen work was real nice

Thanks. yeah, that kitchen is one of the things we miss most! Living in a 32ft trailer next to the house until this all gets settled. Had to actually file suit against them and BOY do they know how to draaaaag things out! They'll take every last second to respond to anything. Fortunately we do have a good team of attorneys and are confident in the case, but it is a really long road in our little town.

That is some superior work there. Are you making them to sell, or just for fun? I am looking at getting myself a wine fridge, and thinking a set of shelves would be great.

I've been selling them. Started as fun, then got absolutely crazy. Now, it seems to be a job that I could be involved in for quite a while between the Wineador stuff, Humidors and odds and ends woodworking requests. lol It'd be great to be able to quit the "day job" and work out of the shop all the time, but that's a risky venture in today's economy.

I don't know what it takes to get set up here as a vendor, or I'd get some pricing for you. For now, just letting folks know what I'm doing nowadays.

If there's a spot for me as a vendor, I imagine Rod will let me know, I sent him a message. If not, just enjoy some pics and get some ideas for building your own. .

Kinda surprised there isn't a Retailer Forum. Somewhere you could post any hot cigar deal you know of. It could also open to retail cigar shops...

LOL, yeah, I saw that, but from reading the description I figured it was a cigar shop place, and since I didn't have retailer status yet, I didn't want to cross any lines. If there's nothing special required to acquire vendor status here, I'll post over there with information. Figured I'd wait to hear from Rod.

We've had a couple members in the past who turned their hobbies into a side business. They usually keep their business in there, and their "regular" posts in the other forums. Just be open about what you're doing, and try to keep your business and pleasure posting separate. Best of luck, and hopefully everything works out with the insurance co.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the past member issues, and wanted to be sure I didn't cross lines.

Any business stuff, I'll be sure and put over in the retailer forum.

Thanks for the information. :)

That's not completely necessary Tom. At least the guy is trying not to step on any toes. I'm sure he's seen the downfalls of guys like Humiminister and just wants to go about it the right way. No need to be a smartass.

Yes, I did. ??? and yes I am trying to go about it correctly. ;) and I do appreciate the help.

If I wasn't a smartass, people would accuse me of going soft like you. Besides, my second post in the thread was helpful, imo.

Mad skills bro!...definitely top notch  The fit and finish looks awesome.

That's horrible about the Insurance Company BS, I'm tired of hearing stories like that. Unfortunately, that seems to be the norm anytime a claim is filed in the larger dollar amounts. If the Insurance Lobby wasn't so strong in Washington, SOMEONE should look into their shady ways of doing business! But just when you think they're all related to the Devil, a good experience like Brian's (Jonesy) makes you think there is hope!

Tom, as for your comments, I felt exactly as Jon did...he COULDN'T have been more honest and open as to his intentions. You sometimes need to back off with totting the Company line. Judging by his posts, he obviously knows the rules and stated he contact Rod. Your blanket policy in the way you treat people, who you think are breaking the rules, really needs refining... ;)

You say that like it's a bad thing? Contrary to public perception as well as my past missteps, I'm not the forum police and I don't see my sole purpose of participation here to bust people's balls as I see fit.

There's definitely some merit to how you approach this forum when dealing with asshats, but like Gary said, your blanket policy needs adjusting. GolfNut was definitely clearly asking for some direction because he wasn't looking to step on toes as weve seen other members-turned-retailers do in the past.

Also, I'm not "getting soft" completely, I'm just learning to pick my battles more wisely.

Sorry to hear about the house and the whole insurance bit. But your pictures are amazing, and if I was in the market, I'd totally want one of these. I especially liked the checkered trays for that humidor you made.

Golfnut - Your wood working skills are amazing! You must be very proud of your work. I certainly would be. I put a
" Vinotemp " on my X-mas list to Santa (the ole lady) this year. Maybe I can do business with you down the road if
all goes well ??

As for the the house fire, and I know it's easy for me to "say" having never experienced such a materialistic loss, but
just know that "the higher being" only deals you what you can handle. . . Don't let it get you too down. It could always
be worse. At the very least, you were not home trapped inside. You said the wood working has been keeping your
mind at ease. Maybe this was for the best ? Allowing you to "spend more time" on your drawers, coming up with new
ideas. Who knows, maybe this was the "fire lit under your a$$" to take your business to the next level. Rise above the ashes
my friend, stay positive, and good things will come your way. . . Best of luck
