What kind of Glue in my Coolerdor?

Hey all,

Well I picked up a small cooler today along with a cheep humidity gauge. I also picked up some empty cigar boxes from my local Cigar Store.

So I have some questions before I start to set up my Coolerdor.

1. I was thinking about lining the sides with cedar sheets, what type of glue should I use? Normal Elmer's Wood Glue?

2. Should I have any type of small battery powered fan in it? Does air circulation matter?

3. Does it matter if my cigar boxes are open or closed?

4. Does it matter if I keep cigars in cellophane? As far as the humidity is concerned?

Thanks. :)

No need for cedar sheets. A few empty cigar boxes will suffice. Also, if you plan on making any box purchases to put in your coolidor that will work just as well. I have a couple of Spanish Cedar shelves in one of mine and that was overkill. The seals on these coolers are so tight they hold in the aroma really well.
IMHO it would be a waste on time and energy to do that.

Then again, if you're hell bent on doing this, than that's your perogative. I would not use glue, but a generous helping of double sided 3M tape or velcro. Wipe the plastic down with an alcohol wipe before adhering. Then at least you won't have a mess if you should decide to use the cooler for the intended use in the future.

I wouldn't worry about the cedar sheets. The boxes by themselves are more than enough. Get an Oust fan. Battery operated, and can be found on Fleabay for cheap. (Don't put the fragrance thingy in it though unless you want to turn your Opus into Acids! ) Once the boxes have acclimated to your cooler it's fine to keep them closed. None of mine are open. Just throw em in there. Cello on cello off, is a matter of opinion. Whatever you want to do.

Search is your friend!!

Leave the boxes closed.

Do a search on the fan & the cello. This has been covered quite extensively. :whistling:

Is having a fan in your coolerdor absolutely necessary? I plan on purchasing a smaller cooler for my secondary storage and a fan doesn't seem all that important.

I would say in a bigger one yes, because there is a lot of room in there for air to move around. I have a 90 qt cube, and I don't think one is necessary, as it's square and not rectangular. Just my $.02

Regarding glue/ Gorilla glue would work wonders. Especially when both material's are not of the same IE one is plastic other is cedar. Gorilla glue will work 100% for this and is 100% water resistant so it would work well in humid conditions. Glad to help fellow Cigarian.

I would use double sided tape like John said if you are sure you want to do it at all, it's really not necessary. Gorilla glue is the messiest stuff on earth and could leave you regretting the decision to use it or any glue.

I use coolers exclusively and I just lay cedar sheets around wherever I can.
