Can somebody explain the difference between the Don Carlos, Hemmingway, and regular (green band) Fuentes? I have tried all three, and the Don Carlos and Hemingway seem to have a stronger more complex flavor, but I like the regular ones better. How many different blends do they have?

BEst way to figure out the different Fuentes is to check out their site at cigarfamily.com.

The difference between Don Carlos and Hemingway is the blends of tobacco and are considered their categories for cigar lines. Just like cars , cigars have a manufacturer and different types of vehicles, all vehicles come with standard packages and parts per line (tobacco).

Hope this helps.

Just had a moment with this thread!!!

In my best opinion all cigars including Fuente fall into two categories.

Price & Taste

Taste being the more important of the two, it is your job to test all to find out which ones taste the best. I will be honest I have found cheaper fuentes at time to be a better taste.

I loved the 8-5-8 SG before they stopped making them. The Maduro just doesnt cut it. And it was a cheap cigar for only around $4 a piece.

I think they still make them, but they are really difficult to find.....i could be wrong...

The 858 Sungrowns were never a regular production cigar. They were sold to retailers who took part in a display promotion held in the brick and mortar stores.

Every year except one the last 4 they have held this contest. The retailers who participate are the only ones who get the cigars. They are a very limited cigar that in my opinion is way over hyped. I prefer the Cuban Beli's which is a regular production smoke.

"Cheap" Fuentes can be found at tampasweethearts .com
Lumberg turned me on to small "No.32"'s which are prety decent for a "Clint Eastwood" type of short smoke.
Enjoy!

Always happy to help!

Jonathan, aren't you on your honeymoon? Shouldn't you be doing something else besides posting to a cigar board? Just a thought.
