What is "blush"

Was in a very old shop in New Haven CT and was going to buy a couple AVO's. Guy hands me two and one of them has these, for lack of a better term balls of white on them. It didnt look like plume because these were pretty big. Asked him what it was and he said it was just a little blush.

What is blush? Personally I thought it was mold and walked out.

Sidenote...went into another shop in NH and walked into the humidor and thought it was gonna rain it was so damp. Looked at some Hemingways on the bottom shelf and they were literally covered in green/blue mold from cap to foot. Hustled myself outta there too.
 
If they're ball-like and have some height to them, I'd say it's a sure bet it's mold. FWIW, I've seen quite a few AVO #2 Tubos that have molded up.
