Hey Guys, I'm very very new to cigars and I just lately started smoking them. I have about 10 cigars but no humidor. What can I do to keep my cigars the way there supposed to be without using a humidor. Any help is apprecaiated.

-Thanks
-Alen

I would suggest you buy a humidor, they really are not very expensive.

As far as until you have a humidor, ask your cigar shop if they have any empty cedar cigar boxes and a humi-disk (cost a dollar or two). That will keep your cigars from drying out until you get a humidor.

You can use tupperware - works great. Just use either some beads (http://heartfeltindustries.com/Home.htm), or a clean floral sponge with distilled water, and maybe throw some cedar blocks/strips in it.

Tupperware is more prone to mold isn't it?

And thanks for the spellchecker link thats a very cool tool!

Tupperware is fine. I used a tupperdor for a while. In extreme emergency use a papertowel with distilled water.

I curently have 2 tupperwares that i have been using regularly here at work for the past year. No mold.. And they keep the cigars in perfect smoking condition. Also I use the 65% Viper beads.

Wurm, I think your avatar is lost on the masses.

Humidipak bags work great for small quanities of cigars. You can pick them up at most retailers. Tupperware works well, but can seal up too tight if you don't have a good, controlled humidity source. Actually a Humidipak bag probably works better than most humidors on the market, that are in the budget of most people. The $20-$30 humidors you see are generall mass=produced junk that do not seal over the long term. Not a wise investment, IMO.

Yeah Rob, that spell checker program is very nice. I just installed it and I like it!

Now I just have to remember to use it!

Hey Alen, go with the tupperdor solution for now, and try and find a humidipak to throw in there. I think that is the least expensive option until you decide how serious you want to get with your cigar collecting. Then spend some time hanging around here and see what everyone else is using and how they like it and move up to something nicer when you're ready.

And what is the deal with the avatar Wurm?

I thought a coolidor was a bit over the top since he only has 10 cigars. For most of us that changed very quickly, but I thought I'd play it safe with our new buddy Alen.

True....I had a cooler lying around when I started, that's why I mentioned it.

We are having a large problem here in reunified Germany with the new National Socalistic Workers Party and its "Just say no to Nazis" week. So I'm using this avatar at all the forums I'm a member of to show my support. :)

I was assuming it was something like that, but you know what they say when you assume...

Yep, that was one of my Dad's favorite sayings. And shouldn't you be packing for your trip :D
