All if I have to say is :sign:

I put in a bid at cigarbid (yes Lee, the devil) for some classic hemingways. I put in a low bid on the 5 pk at 33 bucks (not expecting to win, but you never know). Not surprising I didn't win, but what made me laugh outloud was to see what some jokers ended up paying for them! Funnier yet, it wasn't just one schmo, it was 3 dumbasses. They paid 45 bucks for the f'vr.

Clueless People on Cigarbid

Are people that clueless?? 9 bucks when they retail for $7.65. I just stopped by my local cigar shop this evening and picked up a couple at $7.75 each (along with a couple Opus Fuentes for $10.75 each). Not outstanding deals, but I'm pleased. :)

Yep!

It's all about male ego and winning something over there, I'm determined this has to be it....

I also think that people new to buying cigars on-line, can get sucked in very easily (happened to me a while back). What can happen with Cbid is that a person finds some good legit deals (which definitely exist) and they develop a false sense of confidence. I think that many people there believe that as long as they win, it must be a good deal (since it's an auction). Also, people do get into the bidding spirit as you mentioned. I'm just happy that I'm no longer one of those schmos (and never got screwed - only thin that ever happened to me is that I bought a lot more than what I really needed or wanted).

I think it's a bunch of rich guys in thier offices with nothing to do so they bid on cigars. They have them delivered to thier door, they don't have to drive all over to find what they want, all for a few extra bucks that won't hurt thier pockets. My $0.02

See you Wednesday for poker then

(mental note, knock steve off his stoop before game)

:whistling:

I saw a 5 pack of Anejo approach $150 there last week. Yikes!

You have to understand that that psice may be cheap for their area. With Cali. tobacco tax a Hemi Classic is $10.50. So $9 is good for me and maybe then, too.

That's why you buy it on-line! You can buy them for msrp if you search around. :)

But you gotta buy the box...buying fivers plus shipping comes to the same price. Then you gotta wait for it to get to you, let them sit in your humi to equalize...etc. Not really worth it...IMHO.

Not quite sure what you mean, Fetter.

My original point was how ridiculous some schmos are for paying well over msrp on Cbid for smokes that can be had cheaper if one just does a little searching around. Basically, the winners of that auction paid 9 bucks a cigar. If you look around, you can find them for around $7.50-$7.70. ;)

I agree about the ridiculous prices some things go for on C-bid. I'm always amazed at the way things can get out of hand. Especially when they have a forum. You'd think people would communicate and talk about things like... oh I dunno... MSRP! Half the things you see selling for those outrageous prices are even available in the CI catalogs for cheaper. While it's true that the prices may be better than in some areas and saving somebody money, they could do better if they weren't lazy or sucked in by the auction experience. But that is the American way. If you're willing to pay a premium for it, whatever the reasoning, more power to ya. You won't catch me doing it though.
