So, I bought my first whole box Tatuaje's today and, low and behold, they are wrapped in wax paper. I've bought a number of boxes in the past but this is the first I can recall that were both non-cello'd and in wax paper. What's the concensus on the wax paper? Dump it or try to leave the cigars in there as much as possible and treat it like cello?

(BTW, I searched....)

Interesting. I've never heard of that, but I'm a learning noob. I'm thinking whatever the folks at Tatuaje think is best, probably is. Leave it.

I dumped mine. *shrug* It kept crinkling when i would close the cab.

I always dump mine so that it could be closer to the cedar. JMO..............I always assumed that it was to protect during shipment.

Leave it was my first reaction as well. I had just never run into this before so I wasn't 100%.

Thanks everyone!

I take mine off, then put the cigars in ribbon back in the box.

I have personally spoken with Pete Johnson on this issue..he told me they ship the smokes in wax paper to keep the cedar from imparting too much of a cedar smell and taste when aging...Pete advised me on the box I bought to leave the wax paper as is.
That, as they say, direct from the horses mouth.

Doh! I threw mine out! Oh well...mine won't last that much longer.

Wow.

I like the added dimension cedar imparts to a cab full of smokes. ??? You get a richness and dimensionality that is just not there in dress-box aged cigars. Oh well, I guess it's nice to have the option.

Wilkey
