I felt compelled to show you all what i've been working on putting together over the last several months. As you know, i purchased a edgestar about 3 months ago and have been adding cigars etc ever since.

For those who know me, i was having a tough time bringing up the RH in my other humidor. I was then gifted a Cigar Oasis and it brought the humidity to right where i wanted it. The only problem was that my humidor became too full...

Fast forward to yesterday. I was so excited to recieve my Cedar trays from Chasden and i got to open them late last night. I opened up the box and was amazed.

So, on to the good stuff...

The drawers arrived in a perfect box and were packaged with more TLC than i have ever seen. It truly is amazing of how little of details Chuck put into his efforts to make sure these trays arrived safe and sound. i wish i had pics of the packaging but I shredded it all in excitement. IT was like Christmas morning.

I am truly amazed with his work, I couldn't be happier. My Vino (edgestar) is exactly wha ti want now and i never thought it would look this good!!

The humidification (the beads are there as a failsafe incase the RH rises too high)

i smoke alot of large RG cigars and each drawer holds about 75 cigars (note, mine are mostly toro, torpedo, or churchills)[/QUOTE]

Thanks!

What a sight to behold. The trays are beautiful.

Nice setup!

I went from a 150 ct plus a 40 ct dry box right to
a Vinotemp 28. I still don't trust the Vinotemp
with my super premiums like OpusX, Anejo, PAMs,
etc. But, I'm stocking up on boxes before SCHIP
and the VT is working well. Holds 66 deg. and
68%rh steady, with 18 oz. of 70% beads and a
shot glass of water in it.

I, too, got (2) ChasDen's trays + 1 shelf, but have
nothing in them, yet. My overflow tupperdor smokes
will go in soon.

ChasDen does very nice work. If only I had my
shop still set up...

Anyway, don't fill up that unit too fast!

Chemyst

Wow, that looks great. I hope to go the vinotemp route soon enough. Deals are just to good to pass up when ordering large quantities. I love the symmetry. I would copy your exact design if I could. What did you use to mount the drawers in? I assume a member off CP made these drawers for you?

thanks for the comments chemyst

And Gianni,

Great minds think alike, i have a heavy art background so everything i do/make/arrange has to look good. I love worrying about presentation.

A member from another board made them for me yes, i can put you in contact with him if you like. to explain it the easiest way, he replaced the wire rack with a large plank of cedar and then built a open top wooden box on top of ut... thus making the drawer.

I love worrying about presentation too !! You're doing quite well for yourself there. :)

EdgeStar looks to give you more room for less money than a Vinotemp equivalent. What size is yours and who'd you get your drawers from?

Thanks,
Walt

I was going to PM, but I'm bumping this thread to see if I can get some feedback from other members who may have taken a similar route.

s15driftking,

I'm really interested in what you saw happen with the RH% in the cooler when you added the cedar trays? I've got solid cedar trays (and shelves) coming from Chuck as well, except that they're solid bottoms and glass tops. The EdgeStar will show this Tuesday but I don't expect the trays for another few weeks.
I'm thinking that since each tray and shelf is unfinished, each is going to need to be seasoned like a regular humidor. Anybody else have any experience or input?

Thanks,
Walt

Walt, my trays actually stabilized my entire vinotemp environment. I was fighting with the RH going too high, too low, basically doing whatever it felt like. As soon as my trays and shelves arrives. I gave them all a quick rub of distilled water, loaded the cigars, and shut the door. The RH has held steady since that day.

Now because of this damn site, I need a 2nd wine-o-dor.

Thanks! Have you got finished or unfinished trays?

Looks great. I just put my order in from Chuck.

I noticed your temp. I have the same edgestar, but I cannot seem to get my temp above 59. Ambient temp is around 70 degrees. The cooler control in the top right is turned all the way to the left. Any suggestions on how to bump this up 5-6 degrees ?

I just got my EdgeStar today and set so far it's sitting at 60 in a room with an ambient temp of 70. As the ambient temp rises, I would expect that the unit may not be able to maintain that 60 degree temp at the same setting. We'll see. If need be...I'll hard wire in a different thermosfrtat and post the directions for anybody else that takes this route.

On another note, The door showed some scuffing from rubbing against the packing material during shipment. Nothing worth mentioning except to the company, who offered to credit me $35 ;) This deal gets better and better.

Great question.........I have a Vino right now but waiting for shelves and drawers as well.......figuring I will have to add some RH% to the Vino to get the shelves/drawers up to speed and then wont have to touch it again
