Every time I pick up a hobby it lasts for about 3-6 months. There are always those few hobbies that last for a while. I say a while because in the span of my 25 year life so far, it's hard to have had a hobby that lasted forever. Yet this is one hobby that is bound to stick around. I have only been at this for about 2 months, but I am engrossed in this fanciful feast. I've filled a 100 stick humidor and it's about time to get another.

But to the cigar.... and my attempt at a review....

A co-worker and went in on the "Best of Victor Sinclair Sampler" when they were doing two samplers for $30.00... An awesome deal if you compare the price to individual price. The box they came in was nice and will make a great addition to my pile of future coolidor panels. The one I'm reviewing is the first one I have smoked from the sampler, which I smoke as I write, the 55 Blue Label (maduro) 5.0 x 50.

The rich and robust flavor is definitely there. My co-worker called me just to tell me to smoke this thing because it is phenomenal. Was he ever right. The wrapper is a beautiful black sparkly maduro and its construction is very nice with a couple small veins. Cut with a v-cutter was nice and clean. Labels aren't a big deal to me as long as it tastes great, but these labels are a gorgeous embossed blue and gold which speaks for the quality of the stick. The burn is perfect, it's nice and even with a hefty ash that I rolled off at about an inch and a half. The draw was full and the flavor was smooth with a nice almost hazelnut and slight coffee after taste. A slight bite from the wrapper left a tingle on my lips. No ammonia taste towards the end to be found, in fact the taste graduated and became more flavorful. I smoke my cigars pretty slow, taking about an hour to an hour and a half to burn through. Usually I have to relight a couple times as I get distracted by grilling or internet surfing. This baby burned right on through for just about an hour and ten minutes.

All in all, as a newb smoker, I’d have to say I love these and I’m going to go half on a box with m co-worker. Even at $100.00 for 15, they are worth every penny.

Thanks for the great review, and welcome to CP.

I know what you mean on the rotating hobbies. Boy I have had them all! Photography, Fly Fishing (along with fly tying and fly rod building), Hi Fi Audio, Nitro Radio Control model cars, so on and so on. Cigar smoking is one that has stuck with me. I would say only porn has held my attention longer than cigars. :sign:

Nice review! I can't believe you've only been at it for 2 months :p Very well written.

I'm not quite as old as you yet, but I feel exactly the same way. This is the first time I'm so interested in something I use a lot of my spare time reading about it. I can't wait to have a job and actually afford good smokes (although psyktek's sampler made me feel like a king :))

matt you could combine those two longtime hobbies by looking at moki's rare cigars site... ;)

I was able to pick up a fiver of the presidentes for $15 on cigarbid.com

keep an eye out, they have the green labels up now.

A Public Service Announcement.......

:D

Very Nice job on the reveiw. Thanks for the input! :p

Just thought I would dredge this post up. I tried the robusto size of the green, blue and red courtesy of c-bid. The wrapper on the blue was wierd. It is the maduro version, but had a green tint to it. I tried to make it go away but it still had the odd green tint. Other than that it was very dark and chewy.

In the end I preferred the green and red. In fact, I thought they were very nice cigars with plenty of flavor. I will try and get some more.
