I haven't been around much lately with a lot of work going (read my Noah's Mill bourbon review if you want the full rundown of where I been). So I sat down with a great smoke today and had a little time..

I didn't take pictures, nor will this review be like any of my past reviews, I just don't have the patience at the moment with so little free time. Sorry folks!

This cigar is beautifully constructed in July 07. The wrapper is a creamy leather brown color with a soft texture. The smoke smells fresh, but no ammonia. The first light reveals a very flavorful woody and leathery cigar that is only just developing. I'd say its a medium bodied smoke. It does taste a little fresh, but it starts off with very savory flavors that bode very well for the rest of the smoke. There's a touch of spice on the back of the throat. The first inch burns well giving off good amounts of hearty wood and leather smoke. Puffing this cigar quickly is extremely detrimental to this particular cigar, more than most cigars I smoke. About 2 inches in and I located a hole in the very center of the bunch. This is causing some negative burning but quickly passed in about 5 minutes as I got through the small gap in tobacco. Definitely an error there in the bunch. The aroma of this cigar is very aromatic and highly complex. Just the second hand smoke has me in a daze, eyes closed smelling the air. After the first third and beyond this smoke only gains in depth of flavors. Lots of savory leather and cedar with tobacco and an earthy mushroom, similar to a portabello on the grill. Towards the last third there's some tiny moments of sweetness like bittersweet chocolate. I smoked this down to the very end when my fingers could no longer grip without being burned, and I even smoked it through a couple of burnt finger pads.

I'd say that, to date, this is probably my favorite cigar. I've smoked about 4 out of my box and each has been perfect. Definitely a 96 or better.

WOW, sounds good! I always wanted to try the famosos because of the size but haven't gotten around to it. I do have some clasicos from 01' that I'm still waiting to dry out. Hopefully, they will be as good as yours.

Wow... that's a heck of a review.

I've really only smoked 1 VR Famosos that I can score into the 90s (and it would only get that score because of the smooth creaminess). Unfortunately, the experience of my first VR Famosos has never been repeated. Suppose I may have had a bad batch on the subsequent go-rounds. I'll have to try another to see if there's been any changes.

Thanks for the review.

I really enjoy the Famosos, the 06's are smoking great as well!
