I bought a four pack of Vega Finas about 2 months ago from the Altadis website for $5.95 (or something like that). They've been in my humi for about 3 weeks, so I figured I would give one a try since I have not had one before. So after a little yard work (hence the dirty fingernails) I figured I would spark one up and do a review. I'm pairing it with a Sam Adams Boston Ale.
It's a Vega Fina Robusto with an Ecuadorian Shade Grown Wrapper. There were a couple of small veins, but otherwise a very nice looking cigar, with a little sheen to it. The "pinching" showed no soft spots, it was very firm throughout. the pre-light aroma from the foot reminded me of fresh cut grass or hay. The pre-light draw was firm but manageable. The taste was a little like how cardboard smells (not lookin real good so far).

When I toasted the foot I got a very harsh smell, that almost made me sneeze. But it quickly subsided to a rather pleasant smell like faint cedar.
The first third was very mild, almost bland. You could barely make out any flavors. I could detect a tiny bit of leather, with the cardboard undertone. the burn was nice and even ( it was about the only thing it had going for it at this point). It also had a VERY short finish to it. Once I blew all the smoke out, I couldn't even taste it anymore. It was almost immediate.
The flavor and the body picked up a little in the second third, though it was still on the mild side. The draw lightened up quite a bit, and I could get a decent amount of smoke out of a good puff. It still had an underlying flavor of cardboard through the sinuses.
The last third was approaching the medium range, with a little spice on the tongue coming on. The burn was still nice and even, I never had to touch this one up. The finish was starting to linger for a minute now, and starting to feel a bit creamy. I could still taste cardboard in the background. (Like you deeply inhaled the air in a damp cardboard box)
All in all, this isn't one I would smoke a lot. It would be one I would take to the golf course or the bar. One I wouldn't be heartbroken if I had to drop it mid way through. I give it a 3/5. I hope the pics are of better quality than my first review. I had a new camera and I didn't have the depth of field figured out yet. I do now, so I hope these are better.
Cheers,
Keith
