Using a gel tube along with a disc humidifier

Hey everyone,

I have searched for this using the search function to no avail. I just purchased a new desktop humidor (25 count.) I am in the process of seasoning it now. My question is, will it hurt anything to use the drymastat tube (gel) along with a disc humidifier that will be filled with PG solution? From what I have read some say this will not hurt anything, others advise against it. Right now I have wiped it down with distilled water, placed a shot glass with distilled water in the humidor, and placed the drymastat tube in there. Thanks to everyone in advance.

Don't use PG solution on the Heartfelt Disc Humidifier or any Heartfelt Bead products, the PG solution will ruin the beads in a short amount of time and it is not necessary anyway since the PG solution is meant to control moisture release and the beads do that themselves.

It is OK to have the Drymistat tube in the humidor with the Heartfelt Disc but I would not use PG solution on the Drymistat either.

Do what this man says. He is a God!

The drymastat tube has distilled water in it. The humidifier has the pg solution in it. If I am going to use them both should I try to rinse out the pg solution in the humidifier if possible.

Sadly there is no way to "rinse" the PG solution out of the beads, it will stay in them.

The humidifier is a floral foam style I believe it is made by Madeline's. I am mainly concerned with the fact that pg solution regulates humidity, where as the drymistat tube releases it. I don't want the humidifier (filled with PG solution) to dry out the drymistat tube (filled with distilled water.) Any Ideas? ???

Use one or the other.

DryMistat - These crystals automatically maintains the 70% humidity levels required to keep cigars at their freshest. The humidification process is actually controlled by the nontoxic chemicals we charge into the Crystals in the factory. You never have to add anything but plain distilled water again.

PG Solution - Charging / soaking your humidor's humidifier with this combination of Propylene Glycol and Distilled Water is an important part in the maintenance of your humidor and your cigars. PG solution is much better than using plain distilled water alone - highly recommended.

* 50/50 Solution
* Maintain 70% Humidity
* Slower Evaporation
* Refill your humidifier less frequently
* Prevents bacteria build up within your humidifier which can ruin the taste of your cigars

They both do the same thing, in a small desktop you do not need both :D
