Having just enjoyed the perfect barbeque last night of chicken and ribs and it still being early, I decided to celebrate the end of the summer (and celebration of kids going back to school) and break out this huge stick. Bought about a year ago it is a thing of beauty; big, dark and perfectly constructed. A Pre-light sniff reminded me of other Hemi Maddies.

Lighting the cigar was easy with that nice small tip but it took a few minutes and a few double draws to get this thing going. No big flavors hit me in the beginning and during the first quarter there is just a hint of spiciness and the falvor I notice the most is licorice. The draw is getting much better and the burn is a little irregular but then evens itself out.

Getting into the middle of this cigar, more spiciness emerges and the flavor of licorice is replaced by cocoa. The flavor now reminds me of other Hemingway Maduros but a bit more mellowed. These flavors remain consistent throughtout the rest of the smoke, no burn issues and drawing good smoke up until the end. I did fail at nubbing this thing but what do you expect after 1 3/4 hours.

All-in-all a great smoke and give it about a 90 rating. While a good smoke, I think I prefer some of the other Hemi Maddies like the WOAM.

Excellent review! Thanks

Nice review.

I agree, it is a thing of beauty and a good smoke. Also agree, WOAM and Signature maddy are more to my liking.

Nice review and totally concur with mellow. Good cigar but more suited with morning coffee or early afternoon. I just can't pair these with after dinner anymore.

I've got a date with a BBQ mid morning and think I'll make an untold story my first cigar..... with mojitos of course.
