Trinidad Coloniales
This is one of the new sizes offered by Trinidad, actually its the medium sized one measuring in at 5.2 x 44. This was my first Trinidad (isom) ever, and I was very excited especially with all the hype I've heard and read about Trinidads in general.
The cigar is very light colored, with a pig tail cap. Its the same color as a natural or ct. shade wrapper. The construction of the cigar is near flawless. Tightly packed and weighted. Slightly heavier than you'd expect from a cigar this size. I pulled the cigar from my Conka Survivor, and took a big sniff... Smells goooood.
Whipped out the Xikar and clipped the cap. The pre-light draw was very good. The cap cut perfectly, no splitting- a good sign. I proceeded to toast the foot, got it nice and cherry red, and blew out the first "puff", as to not pull any bad taste or flavor through the cigar. Then I took in a big pull of smoke. The cigars draw was just a little more tight than I would have liked, but it wasnt a problem. This cigar didn't produce as much smoke as I'd prefer either.
The flavor was good, and the strength was mild in my opinion. No bitterness or harshness of anykind. It lacked that spicy kick I had come to expect from most of my island cigars.
The flavor stayed consistent through out the entire cigar, never changing (at least to my palette). The burn was as close to perfect as I'd ever seen in any cigar, and it was a finger burner for sure
Overall, I'd rate the cigar as solid but Mild cigar, with excellent flavor, but a little more mild than I personally like, especially from an island cigar. The lack of plumes of smoke (which I like) was a little disapointing to me.
I'd give the cigar a solid 90. But honestly, I don't see myself buying more- as I prefer stronger isoms.
(I'm not very good at writing things, especially reviews- so comments and opinions welcomed and expected )
