Being the newbie that I am, I've always wanted to try a Maduro. I got this one from CaptainB in a Newbie trade and have had my eye on it since receiving it b/c of it's appearance. The odd thing about this cigar is that it's triangle pressed, which for me was a first. The triangle press felt a little weird at first, but fit quite nicely in my fingers as I smoked the cigar. I looked up the cigar on the net and here is the wrapper/binder/filler info: "The Trilogy Exotic Maduro uses a rich Brazilian Arapiraca Maduro wrapper, an Indonesian binder, and filler blended from Columbia, Nicaragua, and Honduras." Since I'd never had a Maduro before and due to my lack of knowlegde, I was afraid this cigar would be a bit too much for me. I was very mistaken. Upon lighting the cigar(which lit very easily and even), I noticed a sweet chocolate/tobacco taste that I found to be pleasing. The thing I liked about this cigar is that it left a sweet after taste on my lips. Might be just me, but the only way I can describe it :D The ash would have easily lasted 2 inches or more, if it weren't for my ever curious Great Danes nose every 5-10 minutes wanting her own taste. The strength did sort of mellow out towards the last few inches of the cigar. I hated to see it end. All in all, I would recommend this cigar to anyone who likes Maduros or who wants to experience them. I loved this cigar and will definitely look to buy a few more. Oh, I just looked on the net and they are very well priced, around $3-$4 a stick.

Have you guys tried and if so, what are your thoughts?

Thanks for the review. I have had one. They are fine for an everyday smoke and I think so are some of the other Trilogy's. They have all seemed to be packed well with good draws and plenty of leaves.

I like the Trilogy stuff too! I've had the Exotic Maduro and the Authentic Corojo (I think I called it a camaroon in another thread though :0 ) And the price is great. I got them for 5 bucks at my local rip-your-face-off smoke shop, so they've got to be a steal at Famous or JRs.

What do some of you other 'experienced' guys think of these?

I won a five pack of them off of cigarbid a few months back. If you really like them, check out cigarbid, the Trilogy line is fairly common over there. So far, I've only had two of them from my original five pack purchase. Some brands over there were fought over with great intensity, in particular, the Gurkha and Partagas cigars. I got the Trilogy's for a great price, and they were more than worth it. I remember them as being full of good flavor and not going over the top in strength or spicy/bitterness. Yes, the triangular shape is something to behold. I didn't know it, but "exotic" in cigar phraseology means any shape that isn't the standard round one. It seems that as I let them sit in my humidor, they grow in forwardness of taste. I could be wrong, but that's just what I've found as of late. I would rate them up there with Punch, Romeo 'Y Julieta, as well as a few of the Partagas brands(not including black) They are good cigars, good review befreebern!
