I've been fortunate enough to be able to spend some time in Europe for the last year. During this time, I've visited shops in Amsterdam, London, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Paris and Madrid to get that special high from walking in to a well stocked humidor. During the visits, I would chat with the local tabacconist and usually end up buying a few sticks from his/her recommendations. I'll ask for reccommendations on a sub $10, $10-15, and $15-25 cigars. I've found that this has been a great way to try new smokes. In the next month, I'll be in Cologne, Athens, Mykonos and Crete. I'd like to visit some tabacco shops in those cities, so if anyone knows or can recommend a shop, please let me know. Please PM me if you don't want to divulge your recommendation to the general public.

Thank you.

Would love to hear some of the gars Europeans are recommending. Do they steer you torwards ISOMs or more towards NC's? Are the same gars popular in the US as popular in Europe?

I think that knowing that I'm American has influenced the shop keepers to steer me towards the cubans, except of course at the Davidoff shop in London (I'll let you guess as to which smokes they recommended). ISOMs are generally favored in most of the shops I've visited with prime shelf placement in comparison to other domestics. Most popular reccommendation I received for sub $10 was the RASCC, most recommended $10-15 range cigar is the PSD#4 (local shop seems to have problems keeping this in stock), and the most recommended $15-25 cigar is the Siglo VI.

I don't know of the rest of Europe but we in Finland have a lack of cigarshops. There is one that i know of located in Helsinki but it doesn't have a good variety and the prices are atleast double what you pay in germany. Man i hate Finlands customs (because if you order outside EU you'll have to pay taxes, usually the same amount as you payed for them ) :angry2:

Ekans, I know the feeling. I live in Stockholm and I feel the prices here are outrageous. I hate the 25% VAT here in Sweden.
