Today's Smoke 2016

Most logical choice after starting my day with a JdN Antano was ending it with a Tat Cojonu '09. I really, really like those things.

Today was a good day. Out celebrating my best friend's birthday! I can't believe I'm saying this, started off with the Don Carlos Eye of the Shark and finished with a 1926 anniversary 80th year.

I love them both... The JL2 is bigger and bolder and ages slower than it's little brother the JL1. The 1 is milder, but more complex. The 2's are sweet, rich, creamy and spicy. The 1's are earthy, leathery, but also creamy and spicy... Both are in my weekly regiment...

A Cuban-esque gem.

Hamlet Paredes is perhaps the best-known Cuban cigar roller, and often traveled internationally on behalf of Cuba’s state owned cigar industry to do in-store rolling demonstrations. Rocky Patel heard of Hamlet’s desire to move himself and his family to the United States, and aided their immigration. Hamlet now works for Rocky at Burn in Naples, Florida and has blended his first cigar using non-Cuban tobacco.

Before coming to the US, Hamlet had never touched tobacco that was not Cuban, and quickly became excited by the prospects using the wide variety of new leaf available to him. Tabaquero comes adorned with a Mexican San Andres wrapper concealing binders from Brazil and Mexico, and long leaves from Nicaragua. This medium-bodied beauty has a depth of flavor and richness normally found in Cuban cigars, and comes with an abundance of complexity. Robust notes of chocolate, coffee, spice, earth, and wood will delight even the most discerning aficionado.
 
Started the day with a Jericho Hill 12 Honest Men...still at the top of my list of favorite Crowned Heads so far.

I've got some smoking to do tonight to catch up on writing for a review site, all reviews are blind, and I'm down to 2 samples of the same GIGANTO-TORO....these things have to have a 56 ring gauge at a minimum. I know that's nothing in today's world, but my brain never got past my 90's cigar boom "anything over a 52 ring gauge is just a passing fad" stance. Anyway, if I end up liking these things I'll definitely let everyone know when I find out what they are....they've been sending me some good stuff lately, but they'll have to be stellar for me to risk lockjaw voluntarily.
 
Warped Lirio Rojo Jun '15, a very good cigar, that with some age will be truly special. Hoping the Nov cabs are of the same quality.

La Escepcion Cazadores Miramar "84, paired with V17. It is an outstanding, straightforward, extra full bodied classic.
