If you're new to the Tamboril imprint, it was one of the leading brands during the mid-90's cigar boom.
It was resurrected a couple of years ago by Abraham Shafir, and made available in two wrapper blends, Connecticut and Sumatra.
The Sumatra we're featuring today uses a unique blend of dark and light Dominican Piloto Cubano long-filler tobaccos, a Dominican Olor binder, and a naturally dark Sumatra wrapper to produce a rich-tasting, moderately spicy cigar with no bite. The smoke has a pleasant woody aroma with traces of nutmeg and sweet cedar on the finish. The balance of flavor is good and fairly complex, too, with some sizes having a little spicier finish than others. Plus, I can tell you from personal experience that they improve well with home-aging.
