A fellow correction officer just got back from a well deserved vacation. He surprised me with a box of Romeo Y Julieta's Romeo No.1 Tubos

I am sure this has been discussed/debated before, but I would love to hear peoples opinions or experience with storing tubo sticks in the humidor. Should I tubo or untubo? My thought at the moment is that the sticks are fairly well kept in the tubes and shouldn't be disturbed. However a part of me is also thinking that they should be 'liberated' and allowed to be exposed to the proper humidity without interference from the tubes.

What say you?

IMHO, leave them as they are! They are stable as is, no need to go messing with it :)

Yep, that is what I learned after posting. My apologies to CP for not taking the time to check the Humidor forum.

I would say leave them unless....you use any kind of cooling method in your storage (i.e. a vinotemp/winodor). If you do, metal-tubed cigars seem more prone to mold, probably due to condensation on the metal.

I always leave my tubos tuboed. Say that 5 times fast! If it has a screw cap I just loosen it up a little and if it is the 2 piece version like Davidoff uses I just twist until the little window is opened just a little.

I also keep them in their tubes but take off the caps to allow the cigars to breath more. Whether you take the cap off or not, it shouldn't be a big deal; just something I do.
