Rod, I think your poll may be misunderstood.

Annonymous "login" is not the same as Annonymous "posting". Annonymous Login does not allow people to post annonymous. I'm betting quite a few people thought that it would when answering the poll.

I'm curious why this came up..... is there a concern if people don't want to be "seen" when they're on?

Glad you started this thread. I'd be interested to see what some of the veteran guys think about this. I remember a time where some of the "FOGs" would log in annonymously because they didn't want certain newbies harrassing them. I voted we should keep the anonymous log in.

Which is different than anonymous posting. Which we're not allowed to do.

I do the secert login in at work now, just because I don't want someone to think I'm rude when I jump off in the middle of pm's back and forth.

I'm curious as well....I certainly don't have a problem with logging on annon.

I think the idea is if someone is being called out, you can see who is viewing the thread if they are logged on as them.

For example, on my blind taste test thread, I saw jcpyro viewing the thread, even though he hadn't even responded to say he'd gotten his sticks. So I called him on it.

If you don't allow anon browsing, you enforce this and people can tell that you've been on the thread since an issue was raised.

Of course there is a way to get around all this, so I think the point is moot anyway.

This is exactly the reason I don't like it, and always turned it off when I ran boards.

Of course, to acknowledge both sides, you can still look in a person's profile to see when they were last active on the boards - doesn't tell you what threads, but when there is some sort of conflict ging on it's easy to figure out what's going on.

P.S. - 2 full screens of a sig is far beyond reason IMO.

Lumpy,
It seems that every time you attempt to show some sign of intelligence it's immediately shattered by your obvious lack of it....

Were you dropped on your head as a child? What's up with the drivel in the sigtag?

Anyone can browse "anonymously" by NOT logging in.

I think anonymous log ins should be allowed even though it's something I seldom if ever do myself but if someone wants to they should be allowed to.

Duhhhh... very good point CC. That will work.....

Lee - the ignor feature keeps you from seeing drivel except when someone quotes em. ;)

Hell Kenny, if I used the ignore feature, I wouldn't see many posts! LMAO

Anonymous login is just nice so that people don't get to see just how much time you actually spend on the board. :D

Why don't you go play somewhere else? Your negative comments are counterproductive.

I like this ignore feature already....did you say something Lumpy?

Funny how Lumpy is all for doing away with the anon log in thing, when I'd be willing to bet my paycheck that he's on anon looking at his blind tasting thread right about now....

Lumberg missed my first review in his thread and has made an open apology for calling me out. Found here! I have also appologized to him for being late with the other review and have explained to him the situation. Just don't like bad marks on my name.

On the topic at hand. I don't really care if there is an annonymous login or not. Like CC said, just don't logon

Lumpy, I'd suggest that you edit your sigtag before you get raked over the coals bigtime!

You continue to show the board what a classless POS you really are time and time again...
