I have been smoking cigars from a shop in Sacramento, CA. It is called Casiallas Cigars. It is run by a Cuban transplant. They are all handmade and have their own branding.

Every once in a while I grab a branded cigar, but they never seem to be as good.

Granted there are a ton of cigars to smoke and I have not had them all, but why change?

I guess I need to get involved in a pass or trade to find out what is what.

maybe I'm too new here, branded? what's that?

You never cease to amaze me.

You mean you've never heard of "branded cigars"? That means they have a very small brand burned in them like they do to cattle so that you know which cigar shop you purchased them from. Some shops don't store their cigars very well (too wet, too dry) and others store them perfectly. High end shops always brand their cigars in a similar fashion that jewelers "brand" precious stones with ID numbers.

You're evil CC................I like that.

If I could figure out how to post a picture, I'd show you a few branded ones.

For some reason, I feel that this thread turned the corner down a dark ally when CC posted to it ???

dark ally

OOooooooooo PB are you my "dark ally" you make me all tingly inside

Or did you mean "dark alley"? If so, you got me all excited for nuttin' :(

"Ally or Alley" is there a difference?

The thread has become a definition piece. Nevertheless it is alright by me.

Well sorry for asking a question. I've never been to a store where they "brand" a cigar. I've only been to stores around here, and I've never seen it done. And considering I was raised and live in the south eastern United States, I think I would know what branding is, I just haven't seen it before on a cigar. Remeber, not all of us having been smoking as long as others...

Huge difference, they're not even pronounced the same:
Italy was an ally of Germany in WWII.
PB's gonna meet me in a dark alley and give me a big wet kiss.

Oh and Inflatus (I LIKE the screen name BTW  ) getting back to your original topic, I would HIGHLY recommend doing a "Newbie Sampler Trade" with one of the FOG's. It's the BEST way to get a sample of cigars for the best value. That way you can try LOTS of cigars ;)
