I am looking to try some new sticks. While flipping through the pages of Mike's, I came across Hoyo De Monterrey Dark Sumatra, La Gloria Cubana and Bauza.

I am sure someone has tried at least one of them. Any opinions would be great. I will more than likely get one of each to try. Unless I get a general consensus of dog rockets.

I was a big fan of the Hoyo Dark Sumatra once upon a time but my tastes have changed a bit since then. I still revisit that old friend from time to time however. Always a consistent smoke. Tons of smoke. Good draw. Nice flavor. I would definitely recommend.

Thanks for the input. That was going to be my first purchase.

I smoked a La Gloria Cubana Maduro last night - I always like em. Especially the Series "R". Everyone I've had have been an all around nice cigar (good draw, nice amount of smoke, great construction, good flavor) For the most part, they're more on the fuller side of medium, but not overpowering....

Are they a strong cigar?

I agree with ricmac and ggiese on both of those cigars. The dark sumatra is a very good, medium-to-full bodied smoke as is the LGC. I also agree on the Series R, though the Torpedo No. 1 and the Charlamagne in maduro are excellent as well. I have smoked Bauza in the past. Good medium bodied smoke...try the pyramid. Used to be rolled by Fuente, I would assume that it still is.

The LGC Series R no. 6 maduro is one of my favorites. Great smoke, but put aside an hour plus for this bad boy it's big. Highly recommended.

Last I heard Bauza is still rolled by Fuente. Nonetheless it is a medium cigar and has decent flavor for a reasonably priced cigar. I used to like the pyramid and the jaguar was once very highly rated, however, the last one I had did not have IMHO the kind of richness that the older ones had.

The LGC would probably be my choice, I had one about 3 weeks ago that was very nice, series R, but not the maddie. A very credible smoke, well rolled, looked good and had more richness than some other LGC's.

Again these are only my very humble opinions.

I'm a big fan of the La Gloria Cubana also, though I have only smoked a couple of the Serie R. I mostly smoke the LGC Wavell.

I haven't tried the Bauza, but I am a big fan of both the LGC Serie R and the HdM Dark Sumatra!

LGC's in general have never disappointed, the Series R are definitely worth a try.
Bauza Pyramid is a fine smoke; I'm now hoarding what I've got left.

I like Hoyo's in general, not familiar with the Dark Sumatra. I think I've had one, but one's not enough to base an opinion on.

I've smoked a few LGC Wavell Maduros and, as stated above, "fuller side of medium" & good flavor IMO.

I'm a big fan of the LGCs, try the Wavell maddie for a trial smoke, can't beat it for the price.

Just tried the HDM DS for the first time a week or so ago, I've had a few more since and I like them alot.

The Bauza never really impressed me but have gone over really well with some guys I know.

Just my .02 :)

Bauza is my favorite holy grail. Cheap and killer, IMHO. It's rolled by fuente and I think they are great. Just ask Pystek! Everyone he's put in a pass that makes it to me, never gets out. I don't have anyone local that sells them though. The other two are fine, but out of the three, Bauza is my fav. Good luck!

Men;

Thanks for all the input. I will surely buy all three. I will post the results of the smokes later.

Again; you guys rock!

Edited for Spelling

La Gloria Series R Rock and you definately can't go wrong with the Bauza Torp.

Enjoy the smokes!
