Now that the new software has been in place for a few weeks, what do you guys think? Bare in mind that this version will continue to be developed, and it's still young. There will be several fixes/updates in the coming weeks/months.

As far as the skin/theme goes, I know, it's ugly. My primarily goal was to get the software up to date, as version 3 does a much better job at managing system resources and won't crash as often. As you can see, there were a few major improvements, such as the PM system. PM's are now conversation style, which will help make communicating much easier, especially when it comes to organizing passes, group buys, bombs, etc... No more having to search through your inbox, trying to piece together a conversation. As far as the skin goes, I'm working on it...

Another major improvement is the profile system - lots of new options, including status updates. Not sure if I'm a big fan of the status update sidebar, still evaluating it. For those who don't like it, feel free to click the X on the top right corner of the sidebar, and it will hide itself.

It's my goal to keep up with the times. While we were all accustomed to the old forum, it was just that, old and outdated. In order to keep up with security updates, and offer the community new and useful features, the upgrade was necessary. I'm not a fan of using EOL (end of life) software. On top of that, CP is a very interactive community - most forums are simply bulletin boards, and members aren't encouraged to meet in person or trade expensive items with one another. The new features will allow us to interact on a new and exciting level.

Again, the new CP skin will be released soon, and we'll have our own unique look back. :)

I'm still tweaking the forum, however if you have any comments or suggestions, I'm always open to hearing them.

It is a nice functional improvement Todd and I'm sure you'll be tweaking it to make it even better for us.......... your subjects.
 
It has taken some adjustment on the aesthetics and has a FB feel but overall it is functionally sound.
 
It took some getting used to but I like it. A new skin would help.
 
Took some getting used to, but the new PM features are worth it. Now I can check my PM via Email on my phone without logging on.
 
MrSneed... I am ALMOSTwithout words. Where do you keep the well with the slave in it, and why do you have 97 rolls of plastic wrap in your pantry...

Overall, the upgrade has been a roaring success and I am very happy with it now that I know my way around. I like the status bar, it's fun to me, but that's up to The Todd in regards to how much bandwidth it uses.
 
Love new stuff, I like the improved functioning. Can't wait for the new graphics though!
 
takes getting used to as all new boards do. I do like the PM features and the status bar is growing on me. Good job!

I will look forward to new skins though ;)
 
Rod, thanks for all the hard work. My take:

- The skin is meh. I don't love it or hate it and I can certainly live with it as is.
- The PM system is manna from heaven! Thankyouthankyouthankyou! It's great and an improvement of several magnitudes over the old system.
- I also have noticed that certain functions such as marking a forum as read seem to work much faster now. Me likee.
- The fact that the new site operated as well as it did at go-live is a sign to me that you put some serious work into testing before rolling it out. Good work.

All in all I give the new site an 8 out of 10 and I'm excited to see what you do next.

Getting used to it. The old one was comfortable like an old pair of jeans, and the new and improved needs a few washings... LOL Love you Rod, and thanks for all the hard work you put into CP.
 
I love it Rod. The PM system is light years better than a standard one, the status updates are fun, and the site itself seems a lot more streamlined and a lot quicker. The mobile version is nice as well, it makes browsing on my iPhone even faster than usual. I do miss the old skin, and I am sure the new one will be slick. Thank you Rodd for giving myself and the rest of the community a kick ass place to hang our hat.

*EDIT - Apparently I forgot how to spell.
 
I like the new functionality, but I look forward to the new skin. This one really bugs my eyes after just a few minutes.

I honestly liked the old skin better than this blue one. Other than that, everything else seems cool. The conversation thingy for pms is nice, though I still have trouble figuring out how to just reply to the originator and not the entire group if its a mass pm. I'm sure its easy enough, but all the buttons look the same and aren't really descriptive in what they do. Theres add reply, fast reply, and then under each persons post in the conversation "reply". But I really haven't had much time to play around with it too much.

I like the status update thingy...pretty cool. :)
 
I want pirate as a language, damn it.

I like the upgrade, functionally speaking it's a great improvement.
