Here's the pipe JM Boswell has been working on for me. It's not exactly as I originally wanted it, but this is better than what I came up with. I should have it in my hands by the middle of next week.

That is a really interesting looking pipe. Boswell's shotshell finish is very nice. Enjoy.

Very Nice Alan! I'll have to check on it today, as I have a few hours to kill at Boswells!

It also matches the stem on my Boswell Freehand. (you can see that one in the link below) The pipe finish is a little darker, but I think they'll coordinate very nicely. I'm building a set.

Thanks for all of the complimentary responses. I can't wait to see this pipe "in the flesh" and get a really good look at the grain. I've been told by both Gail and Dan that it is very nice and that the pictures don't do it justice.

I don't know if you'll get to see it, Tim. They may have it packed up and ready to go. If you do, keep it out of your mouth!

I am going to have to break down and buy a Boswell. I found a couple on their site that I am going to have to give them a call about.

You won't be sorry!
Which ones are you looking at?

I have three favorites right now, and I want them all so I am having a hard time deciding. Here they are in no particular order. I just can't decide which one to call him about since they are all out of stock right now. Any suggestions on which one? Though it will be quite some time before I can order one with how much they cost. I am also looking forward to getting several of his blends as well, especially that christmas cookie.

They were all nice. My favorite is the Antler pipe. Well good luck selected one!

Hey! What's with the threadjack?! ;)

Those are some nice looking pipes. I really liked the Stubby Freehand, but since I already had something else going, I passed on it.

I thought the pipe might show up today. :( I guess I'll have to wait unti l tomorrow to see how Tim defiled my beautiful new piece...

:)

Sorry about the threadjack Alan  I just can't decide on which Boswell. That is a mighty fine one that you have coming though! I will probably end up going with the stubby freehand since it is the cheaper of the three, but my favorite is the antler.

Edit to fix typo.

Well, the pipe arrived today!

It is quite a bit bigger than I expected, but it fits my hand perfectly. I won't be clenching this one much, though. It's a good thing it's a sitter.

I must thank Tim for his thoughtfulness. I will enjoy the gift a great deal. I guess I have to send you flowers or something now, huh?

;) :D

Thats a nice looking pipe you have there. Tell us how this one smokes and if you good, get a picture of the bowl. :D

 Aw shucks, weren't nutin'.

Smoked a bowl of Boswells' Burley in this one last night. It was damn cold even in my heated garage. -21F air temp outdoors with a pretty stout -50F wind chill. Garage was at about 40F, but it seemed much colder.

Anyway, the pipe smoked as good as any other pipe I've gotten from Boswell's. I usually take it pretty easy with the first few bowls, but I was puffing a bit more "vigorously" than usual. The bowl maintained a very nice temperature throughout. This pipe is pretty thick walled, so I don't expect it will be a hot smoker at all.

Here's a picture of the bowl (before smoking, of course).
