This a good deal?

Yea great, Grandpa's saliva and marks from his gums.
I guess you could call it antique spit

The three pipes on the right look like they've had the stems repaired with metal bands. They've all had very hard use, and look as though they've been stored in a basement. I'd guess you'd spend at least an hour with each one cleaning and sanitizing it. More if you wanted to ream out the bowls and polish the stems.

There are plenty of inexpensive estate pipes on eBay, many if not most in better shape than these six. If you're interested in geting a quick one week rotation this might be okay, but I've seen other "lots" that are in better shape that have gone for similar amounts. And pipe "restoration" is not a cheap or simple hobby!

My advice would be to look for individual, low-priced pipes and pick them up one at a time. Do a search for "Briar pipes" and you'll get several thousand listings with a lot of Buy it Now offers. :)

Good point. I will have to spend some time searching to get a feel for what is and is not a deal.

I am a ham radio operator and am used to cruising the ebay listings looking for a high dollar radio that is being sold for just a few bucks, simply because someone has no idea what they have. Those acutions usually last less than 10 minutes before someone grabs it. I would imagine it is the same with pipes.

I would avoid this. As others have stated, look pretty well used, and you can get way better on Ebay. Plus you can also find way better estate pipes, and know just what the hell you're getting, getting it in better shape.

I think all the above is great advice, but I'd like to add one thing:

Look how much feedback this seller has!! And there's absolutely no description what-so-ever of anything.

I did purchase something similar to this, but with a purpose. I wanted to try my hand at refinishing some crappy grubby pipes, so I got a lot of 6 pipes (2 of which were Falcons with extra bowls) for $6 and $10 shipping. So if I screw something up, no biggie, I'm out a few bucks and I gain a bunch of experience.

EDIT to add:

I have purchased some really nice pipes off E-Bay. I got 2 Savinellis, a couple of Petersons, a no-name Meer lined Zulu that smokes like a charm and the most I've paid was about $21 USD. So have patience and look for something good.
