Hi there to all the cigar enthusiast!

I'm totally new to this great forum and one of the first things I did (besides introducing myself) was using the nice Search button. I read alot about humidors, humidifier, hygrometers, and so on. ;)

In about two weeks I want to celebrate my birthday with a new humidor from Adorini, but it seems that nobody from the 'board-professionals' use one of these desktop-humis.

I think the Adorini Venezia Deluxe would satisfy my needs. But I'm not sure, is this the right "beginner" humidor?

I would be very grateful, if some cigar expert would take a look.

A nice looking humidor, but you can't tell about the seal by looking at it. Got to say, I can sure recommend what was my first "real" humidor:

....cheap, available locally, easy to store, hold temps really well, seals like a champ, lots of room....can't beat it. Add a pound of Heartfelt's beads and you are good to go......

Looks too small. I think you'll find that will fill up in no time at all. Looks nice, but you might want to consider going bigger. ;)

Edit to add: Darn, B.B.S. beat me to it!!

I like the slots on the sides and bottom.

But listen to the guys above. This "First humidor" will turn into the first of many. On the up side, you can think of it as your future "Humidor where I store cigars for guests," or something along those lines.

I completely agree with BBS!!! Can't go wrong with that! I got one and never looked back!

My first humidor after joining here was a 25 count traveldor. "I'll never fill this thing" I thought. Soon I added a Tupperdor to take care of the overflow from the ridiculously small traveldor. Then it was obvious that I needed something BIG! So I bought a 150 count desktop because certainly I'd never be able to fill that up. Now I have a 12 bottle Vinotemp stuffed to the gills and I'm wondering what to do now that I've run out of storage space for my cigars :whistling:

Bring 'em to Vegas baby and smoke them with the locals...... :whistling:

Agree with the above.

I went from a 150ct desktop humidor to a Edgestar 28 bottle in a matter of weeks. When you're floating around on CP, there are so many 5'ers, box splits, and just plain deals from vendors that it becomes too hard to pass up. I never imagined I'd order a 25 ct box of cigars.... that was until I ordered the box of Padron #35 Maduros, and the LFD 660's. Every idea you have of cigars, except the urge to expand your tastes will change now that you're here.

Welcome aboard, and prepare yourself for a great ride.

I had a humidor that looked just like that. It was a gorgeous thing that I sold to my buddy. He still uses it but I would only be able to fit half of my cigar stock in it, and my cigar collection is microscopic compared to the libraries some here on CP have!

First of all, thank you for your help, great people out here! :)

I think I'm convinced now, I need a 150ct minimum.

Most of you think, even a 150ct humidor hasn't enough space for a long period. I am sure that's true, simply because you made this experience. But I think I should start a litte smaller, even if you're right. :D With a simple ice chest, I'm sure I would feel a litte bit guilty conscience because of my premium cigars. :p

Maybe the Adorini Venezia grande Deluxe should fit my needs.

Perhaps somebody could tell me, if the humidifier and the hygrometer are fine?
Are there "beads" in this humidifier, or am I totally wrong?

Thanks in advance.

A slippery slope my friend... I started here with a 300 ct. desktop. If you really want to go that route, I'd say get a 300 count, and that should last you a few months on here. I had to upgrade to a cooler really quick though. I like my humidor because I have something to display, as displaying an upright ice chest isn't as aesthetically pleasing as you'd believe, so it evens itself out nicely.

I'd agree. Most stock humidification devices aren't that great. An initial investment can save lots in the long run. I learned the hard way.

Is it because your premium cigars would be ashamed of what you keep them in? j/k

I like nice wooden humidors, just because they are like little works of art? and something I can give the kids to remember me by one day. To this day, I like the tobacco leaf design on a humidor, just do. You can do like LFK spoke of and use it for guests and display it in your smoking room while you leave the coolidors or wineadors for the "wow" factor as people pass by and look at your collection (it will happen, trust me) :whistling:

I have 3 different wood humidors in the bedroom and the "collection" is what people pass in the garage, thinking they're full of soda and beer...........until somebody opens one and yells WTF...... are you insane? :p

Welcome to CP, I know just how you feel.

That 150 ct. should last you for a while. It took me 3 yrs. to outgrow my 150 ct.,
but I did use an 'overflow' tupperdor for a while. I now have a Vinotemp 28 bottle,
and use the 150 ct. to store/display my super premium smokes.

You can remove the contents of that humidifier and replace the foam with humidity beads.
Beads are much, much easier to use and maintain, than the foam and polypropylene glycol
solution(credo). Try Heartfelt Industries or CheapHumidors.com, among others, as sources
for beads. For the 150 ct. you'll need about a 4oz. of beads.

You'll be surprised how fast the number of cigars increases.
Enjoy your new hobby!

Chemyst

Hehe yeah, something like this. I mean a Fuente just feels a bit bad treated in this kind of ice boxes.

Thanks buddy, so maybe I'm not THAT crazy because of this kind of problem, I first thought of.

I'm a little bit confused, the humi description says something about 'acryl polymers' and only destilled water (without any polypropylene glycol), I thought in this humidifier are these 'beads', any ideas?

Thanks alot Chemyst, I'm pretty sure I will.

If the 'polymers' are silica beads similar to Viper's, you should only use distilled water.

Oh, and PM incoming.

I have to say, I purchased a 50 count humidor first. After about 3 months, I then purchased a 150ct humidor. After a year, I went with one they call the "foot locker" or "medici". This guy is huge and will hold up to about 400 cigars. I have not outgrown this one yet, but then again, When I graduate I will probably have to upgrade to a 3000ct cabinet. I love this stuff. I probably smoke 2 per week and have enough to last me a few years, but I just feel like I have to have more. You will outgrow this one, there is no doubt. Like mentioned above, you can then use that one to display your premiums. The most important part is to have fun with the hobby.

Just my 2 cents

I did a litte research and find out, that the polymers from Adorini are 'fleece acryl polymers', which only need destilled water. So i guess, they are nearly like the silica beads.
And by the way, thanks a lot for your PM, but I think I'm still in love with this Adorini humidor.

Wow, you really want to build up a complete room full of cigars, like the cigar vendors?

The most important part is to have fun with the hobby.
Hehe, I have a lot of fun even without a humidor, can't imagine how exciting it will be with one by my side.

Thanks a lot, and have a nice, smoky weekend.

Did you ever collect hotwheels when you were a kid? You couldn't have just one or 2. You should probably go bigger. There will always be another one you want to try. :D (I have boxes of old hotwheels burried in the garage. Probably thousands)Cigars can be the same way,(Don't keep them in the garage though)

Anyone here have less than 25 cigars?.............I didn't think so. :D
