The term Dog Rocket made me laugh...

Here is the first time I heard it, I automatically pictured someone feeding tobacco to a dog and then rolling the results. I am pretty close to the jist of things or is there some other meaning behind it?

Speaking of cheap cigars... anyone have a good CHEAP strong robusto to recommend? My best friend smokes 5 a day and hes starting to run out of cash. (Im still at 1 a day myself due to a no smoking policy at my company and being banned to going outside to smoke when I get home) I'd like to square him away with a halfway decent bundle for his birthday in Nov.

At one time these cigars were the industries best kept secret. You'd get a bundle of 25 cigars for about 20 to 25 bucks. In a bundle you'd have about 1 or 2 throw aways that you could not smoke because you could not draw on it or the skin would unravel. They are seconds of the Villazon factory and you could tell. They we're a great smoke for the money.

BUT NOW....In my oponion they're crap. In a bundle of 25, You get maybe 10 good smokes (if that). The rest of them either come apart like a cheap suit or you can't draw on them.

I keep trying these cigars every once in a while to see if there getting any better...There not. I've tried them in a 50 ring of variable lengths, with all the same results. I tell ya somthing, when you get a good one, it makes you say, "Wow this is a real good smoke" But that don't help you when your out on the golf course and the 2 or 3 cigars you took with you that day are unsmokible because you can't draw on them or the skin is unraveling to the point of embarrassing.

At one time these we're just Honduran tobaco, thats when these we're fine. Now they have Nicaraguan tobaco in the mix, I think that's when the problem started. I've tried these many of times over the last 10 years hoping they would be what they once were, they're not even close. Save your money.

You guys agree with him or not (doesn't really matter I ordered a bundle anyway).

havent tried double maduro robusto, but the Ultimates I have tried were pretty good for the price. Even the one I had right out of the mail was pretty good, and they do get better with a little rest.

I just got a box of JR Ult Cab 10s and Cab 30s. Smoked one of the 10s, and it was good, but not as good as it will be in a couple of weeks when it dries out a little bit.

Padron 2000 Maduro...pretty strong, excellent taste and cheap(about 3 bucks a stick)

I agree, if you want a good cheap smoke, go with the connies, you really can't beat them.

Another cigar in the 2 buck range is the Padron Palmas and Ambassador in maduro. Both have some real nice strength and flavors.
