hello everyone,
this week's smoke was an avo classic no 3. it is of the (7-1/2 x 50) churchill-sized cigars that i prefer with a CON SHA wrapper, DOM binder and a blend of 5 DOM tobacco fillers. being from the davidoff family, i had my reservations from the beginning. the smoke only comfirmed what i was expecting.
like the other davidoff cigars i have tried, this one exhibited all the characteristics of this cigar family:
a loose draw
thin sparse wispy smoke
poor construction
hard to stay lit
uneven burn
in addition to the above, once again, the (extremely veiny) wrapper unravelled about half way through. coincidentally, this was right when the smoke started to become bitter and harsh. as a result, the smoke was laid to rest at that point.
needless to say, i DO NOT like davidoff cigars and, personally, feel that they are a waste of money (no matter what the price point). the other varieties (vitolas?) of avo cigars will be donated to a good cause in the hopes that SOMEONE will be able to enjoy them. the only positive thing i can say about this cigar is that i didn't waste AS MUCH money on it as i have on other, more ballyhooed, davidoffs.
next week's edition will cover either a greycliff OR diamond crown cigar. stay tuned...
thanks,
mike
