hello everyone,
INTRODUCTION
is it already september?
after a poor showing from davidoff last week i turned to partagas to cheer me up (it has a cameroon wrapper that i seem to be fond of). i went with the signature robusto major as the cifuentes especial (churchill size that i am partial to) was not available as a single.
THIS WEEK'S SMOKE
brand: partagas
name: 160 signature robusto major
size: 5-1/2" x 52
body: MED
wrapper: CAM
binder: MEX
filler: DOM
NOTES FROM MY CIGAR LOG
mild side of medium, excellent draw, even burn, cool smoke, "dusty" wisps of smoke, good cigar but uninspiring
COMMENTARY
toasted and lit easily.
excellent draw and even burn. i love the way a cameroon wrapper burns.
if the cigar was any milder i would consider too bland.
produced what i call a light "dusty" (like dust dissipating in the wind) grey smoke as opposed to a heavier "hanging" white smoke (that tends to curl and linger in the air).
construction was good. no noticeable flaws.
definite toasted note during the first half morphing into a distinct grassy note during the second half.
no bitterness or harshness until the fire was to close to my mouth that i had to put it out anyway.
CONCLUSION
good cigar for an occassional smoke but nothing sublime or compelling about it to warrant a box purchase. the upmann anniversary series seleccion #3 is a MUCH better smoke for roughly half the cost.
the search will continue next week when davidoff gets a chance to redeem itself...
your comments, questions and/or suggestions are always welcomed and appreciated.
thanks,
mike
