Dogwatch Dale and I have been conspiring to start what we hope will be a quarterly Colorado HERF. I do not post regularly on any other board, but Dale does, so we're extending the invite to all who care to attend. The date for HERF #1 is Saturday night, October 21 in downtown Denver. We'll begin at 5:30 with dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy and will follow that with a short stroll over to the historic Brown Palace Hotel and Churchill's. Its menu includes the area's most extensive list of vodkas, single malt scotches, small batch bourbons and premium wines and spirits. If your spouse would like to attend, great. If spouse isn't into cigar rooms, there is shopping, theaters, and a variety of live entertainment within walking distance.

Please RSVP to me here, or email me at bruce -at- ssmana -dot- org. There will be no direct cost, but we do need headcount to plan. If you would like to travel in, I highly recommend the Brown Palace. I can help you find less expensive accomodations as well. Hope to see you there!

This should be a great time. I will check my calendar and RSVP. Thanks for putting it together!

Is it OK to bring your own sticks to the bar like that is that uncool? $75 for an Opus on their menu is a bit steep.

Absolutely bring your own. Bill Gates most likely wouldn't mind their prices, but I always bring my own. They do have a box of something Cuban, pre-embargo for something like $250/stick. I've been twice now, but with my traveldor. There were many others with similar luggage.

Damn, I would have been so into this when i was still living in Boulder. I'm in DC now wishing I was west. Have fun, I'm interested in what Denver has for cigar friendly establishments, as I have heard about indoor smoke bans last year. I hope to get back west in the next few years.

Man, I would love to go.

Alas, I'm on duty that day, and the next.

Hopefully next time though. :(

At this point, we number about 10 including some spouses/girlfriends. Two are still uncertain due to job schedules.

Thanks for the invite. I have wedding aniversary plans that night, and somehow I don't think I should cancel them to join a bunch of guys with cigars. Just one of those hunches that keep me happily married.

Have fun!

Everyone, for dinner, we'll be seated in a banquet room at Maggiano's. The reservation is under my name, Bruce Thomas. Again, thats at 5:30 at Maggiano's at 500 16th Street in downtown Denver. Chruchill's has no other event scheduled, so they should be able to accomodate us without a problem. Bring your camera!

Beings its just up the road from me I sure wish I could join you all there, but I got some family committments so maybe another time. I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures so hope someone posts some.

Wish I could of made it but daddy duty called. Hope you guys had a great time!

A nice meal, good company, historic venue, and great cigars! It don't get no better than this.

I got to meet new Brothers and Sisters, gave and received some great sticks. The HERF was a great success! Thanks everyone.

I absolutely concur, all who attended the herf were had by a good time! Lot's of good cigar talk, good drinks and wonderful BOTL & SOTL! I'll be posting some photos after the rest of the scotch wears off later today.

Here's a couple shots from the herf.

L-R is my bro-in-law Darrel, Bruce (NullSmurf), Tammy (Darrel's wife), Carolyn (CareP from CS), my wife Terry, myself and Jamie (jcarlton). This shot is from dinner at Maggiano's.
