Fuentes with cedar sap problems.

I just unwrapped a Arturo Fuente Double Chateau Fuente

FuenteDoubleChateauD.jpg

and it was covered in sap, in fact so much sap that it stuck to my fingers ???

It looks like the Fuente family needs to smack the crap out of their cedar company.

It still smoked pretty well but the sap taste was noticeable.

I've been noticing this more and more recently on my Fuentes. At least it doesn't seem to affect their smoking.

Ive had two chateau fuentes sitting in my humidor for about a year now and saw this "stuff" on them and could never figure out what it was. At first I thought it was oils but it wouldnt smear or move. Only recently I saw the posts here and the mystery is solved. I would never have thought of it. Kinda odd since spanish cedar isnt really cedar nor pine. I would think the cedar wrap would have dried out enough before putting it on the smoke.

Even with the highest quality (and QC'ed) products, you occasionally get the oversight, missed one, etc.

I emailed a link to this thread to the appropriate people at Fuente. I am sure they will look into this issue. I know they will be very displeased with the qulity control manager at the factory these cigars came from. They do take this stuff very seriously.

This is not the only thread that has expressed concern with sap on some Fuente's.
There have also been sap problems with King B's and Anejo's.
