I salted test my hydrometer the other day for 23 hours. it read 5% too low. My humidor has been running hear 61% all week, meaning it's really 66%. That is fine with me. Well, on tuesday, I noticed my cigars seemed a little dry, and a little hard, so I took them all out, charge it up for a couple of hours using 50/50 and after it was dry I put them back in. The humidor is currently reading is reading 64, so it should really be 69 (ha ha). Anyways, they still feel hard. What steps should I take. I've searched, and I want to know what some people might think now, a fresher thought on the matter. Thanks for your thoughts...

edited because I must had been really busy or stupid.

If they are smoking fine I wouldn't worry about how they felt.

It's that tennessee slang.

Ive always found that when stickers contain to much humidity, they don't stick to things to well, and if they do...they usually leave a nasty residue behind. I'd suggest you just leave them in a drawer with the rest of your office supplies, you'll probably get the best results out of them that way!

Are they scratch and sniff? Cuz that's awhole new ball game if they are.

I'm just worried about them going bad. That's my worst nightmare! lol

Hard is a relative term. Different cigars will feel harder or softer then others in the same humi. And don't worry about ruining your cigars at low rh. As long as they are kept above 50% you've got no worries. Get beads if you don't already have them. Best defense against wild swings in humidity.

i'm gunna have to I think. I've heard that vern stopped selling them... that true? ???

I have some laying around KB. 1/2 pound I think. Let me know if you want them.

Viper still sells beads, and his service thus far has been good for me.

This can't be stressed enough, but also get a digital hydrometer. I picked up 2 for $20 and that with beads is the perfect combo. I haven't bothered with humidity in 6 months in the humi or the coolerdor. Life is now about smoking and enjoying the sticks.

Digital definatly.....Also if your sticks are hard do to dryness it will take some time for them to come back around when humidified properly. If your smokes are haveing dryness problems some of them will tunnel when you smoke um.My Large humidor actually needs 2 HYGROMETERS because the top dries out faster.I dont know what capacity you are talking about though.
